If he's really 6'6, I wouldn't want him at linebacker either, but I'm not certain he is. He might be more around 6'4 or 6'5, although 6'5 is pushing it. I just don't trust the listings on a recruit's profile. I agree that he'd jump over Uzomah, but I'm not so sure about Fulse. He'll be a Junior before Howard is even enrolled. Ricky Parks was also very highly recruited.

I guess we'll just wait and see. He has to change his committment first.

Sure stopped him from committing to Alabama, didn't it?

The main thing AU has going in its favor is his GF attends Faulkner U & wants him close by, & she is HOT!

Just saying the GF thing isn't the only thing in AU's favor

If Howard plays anywhere other than TE it will be DE, where he could also be a force. I would expect him at TE tho.

Well that wouldn't help us much. Those are the two deepest postions we have.

While true, we also have to keep in mind that Corey Lemonier, Dee Ford, Nosa Equae, and Craig Sanders are all Juniors this year. Lemonier could possibly make the jump to the NFL this year if he has another good year and gains weight.

Auburn blog

I come in peace. Just came across this while browsing 247 sports. Thought you would enjoy a good read.

It's pretty self-explanatory. I wouldn't say Bama has a good shot by any means, but I also wouldn't say they're a long shot.

I disagree.

When a kid admits he's a life-long Auburn fan and continually repeats that he's FULLY committed to Auburn and WDE WDE WDE all the time then, unless you just want to completely disregard *everything* the kid is saying or just consider the kid a blatant liar, then Bama is the very definition of a long shot.

I don't get the doubled-standard attitude of "Auburn is a long-shot with Reuben Foster because Foster was a life-long Bama fan and has made it clear he's fully committed to Bama" but at the same time "Liner is a life-long Auburn fan and has made it clear that he's fully committed to Auburn but Bama still clearly has a chance".

Or, more clearly translated, "Auburn can never get Bama's, but Bama can *always* get Auburn's".

That smacks of little brother syndrome.

As it would if O.J. Howard de-committed because he's being told we don't "motion" the TE.

I don't know where you pulled that shite from, but any jack-leg that watches college football knows that Bama "motions" the TE in their offense because they've SEEN it.

I know you've got a low opinion of Auburn's coaches, but they ARE pretty damned good recruiters and it would be dumb-as-a-rock stupid to feed kids a line that is so damned easily refutable. It would actually be COUNTER-productive.

So unless you think our coaches are either (1) stupid or (2) *trying* to feed OJ Howard easily refutable bullshite so they'll turn him off on Auburn, then I'd recommend you reevaluate the dependability of the "source" that gave you this piece of idiocy.

I just don't want him buried on the depth chart. He's a great athlete, so I'd like to see him at linebacker. Think about it. As of now, I see him and Ricky Parks as equals since they were recruited on about the same level. I'd rather have Parks at tight end (because I'm not convinced he could play anywhere else), and have Howard at linebacker. Get all the best players on the field at once.

See where I'm going with this?

That you're trying to eliminate any possibility of OJ Howard signing with Auburn?

If you watched the Spring game or know anything about Scot Loeffler, you should know that TEs will be HUGE in this new offense. Lutz is a SR, Fulse & Uzomah are Sophs, and Parks and Hutcherson are on the way in...

OJ Howard can come in and play immediately or redshirt. If he learns the offense, only Fulse & Parks compare athletically...

BUT he's still a 'Bama recruit, so.....

I agree with this. I have read several times Lutz saying how excited he is with the playbook and the use of the TE's. I wouldn't even worry about OJ at this time although a great get he already said he will watch both teams this year and decide from there. Also, we have some good looking TE's coming in.

With that said, no way do you bring a TE with his talent and move him to defense. Lefty has two TE sets throughout the new offensive scheme.

Me likey. I had a feeling it would have a Patriot influence. The way the Pats use TE's is fun to watch.
