DG @DGDestroys
Sounds like, after losing out on Dawson and Bosch, Saban called up LTT last night. Pushing harder than ever.

If we get LTT too, Sabans gonna be pissed.

Hes gonna try negative recruiting our depth, hopefully it doesn't work.

Nah not really, LTT was always the higher OL than those 2, Dawson was never really considering I would guess, offered because we need OTs, and Bosch came in for 1st Jr day, not nearly as interested in Bama as LTT though, I'm shocked he commited that early , but LTT is Saban and staffs guy, if he commits to UM yeah Saban will be pissed.

I hope LTT commits to Michigan soon even though he has stated he wants to take visits. He has been to our campus more than any other recruit.

Watch out for Wisconsin for LTT. I heard he loved his visit there.

Were stacked at rb and signed 2 last year. I just think in a year with limited numbers you don't sign another guy unless he's elite. I think you make room for Ford or someone like that, but I wouldn't for Ty Jones. I just like Tenpenny more

I don't think that is necessarily true. Bosch had us in his top 3 with Michigan and Stanford and it seemed like he enjoyed the Junior Day visit. I actually thought we had a much better shot at Bosch than we did at LTT.

With next year's RB crop, I too think one is enough for this year. I like Tenpenny as well but do understand what the staff likes about Jones. I am not going to pretend to know what they plan to do. CNS is the one paid to make the hard choices.

I agree, and the fact that he took Altee's commit speaks volumes to me. If he takes Jones to, I'll be a bit confused but I'll trust him with that decision

Scotch. We drank a bar out of Dewars last night, and put a good dent in the Johnny walker.

Tyren Jones 2011 Film

He's 5'9" 190? It's possible for him to get taller, I prefer 5'11" - 6'0", but hey as long as he runs good. He'll need to put on some weight, around 210, but he I'm sure that won't be a problem.

With Lane, Ford, and Jones all being offered after Tenpenny's commitment it's obvious they want 2 RB in this class.

Lacy is gone after this year, and I think Calloway is going to the Defense or is going to be processed due to his arrest. Sims won't ever be a RB and if they don't bring the wildcat back I see him transferring.

Leaving 2013 with Fowler, Hart, Yeldon, Drake, Tenpenny, and ?. Hart will probably be the number two guy this fall and the number one guy in 2013 because Fowler just isn't gonna ever be an elite RB.

So, if Hart does well he could technically go pro. Leaving us in 2014 with Yeldon, Drake, Tenpenny, ? and whoever comes in the 2014 class.

My guess is they want at least 6 good RBs for 2014. If it looks like Hart is gonna stay, we may only take one next year, if he goes we would take two.

That's what we do in San Antonio.

I like Hart, but he'll need to beef up by then if he's gonna start in the SEC.

he was listed at 5-9 190 coming out of HS, I haven't heard, but I'm sure he has added some weight since then and will add even more by time this fall rolls around.

Even if he doesn't, and he ends up getting passed over by Yeldon or Drake, then he may transfer. Leaving us in the same position.

I guess my point is think about how stacked we were at Running Back in 2010 (Fowler, Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, Goode, Grant, Marrow, Sims).

And then think how thin we were coming into this year when Hart got hurt (Richardson, Lacy, Fowler, Sims). Things change fast when people start transferring, going pro early, or get injured, etc.

Not every RB has to weigh 200+ pounds to be successful. The smaller you are, the less you have to weigh to be considered "stout". Sure Darren Sproles weighs weighs 190 at 5-6, but there's a reason his nickname is "Tank" and is statistically one of the best RBs in the collegiate history.

Tyren Jones will have to gain weight, but not a huge amount. Not every Saban back will look like Trent, Mark, or Eddie physically. Not many pro backs look like them, yet they still are successful.

And Hart is very stout at 5-8, 190. You can't overload him with a lot of weight, then you'll just have a slow, muscle bound player. He'll likely jump to #2 during the Spring due to being one of Saban's favorites and Lacy most likely missing time due to surgery.

Found the guy that knows Tyren's family on BOL, here are a few responses of his on Tyren:

What is Jones' interest level in the Tide?

Very interested. It is going to be a battle between Georgia and Alabama with the lean being Bama right now. And having known Tyren since he was in 6th grade and watching his game progress thru the years, all I can say is that he is special. Many folks won't remember that in 8th grade he went to the FBU all-american game with many of the top recruits in this 2013 class and was the overwhelming MVP of the game. He then went into his freshman year of Georgia 5A high school football and won the starting job immediately. Not many freshmen start in Georgia's highest classification. [Had over 1600 yards rushing and double digit touchdowns.] The transfer to Walton High School really put him in that pro-style offense in which he thrives. He easily could have rushed for over 4000 yards if he had played in the 2nd half or more of his team's games. He only played into the 4th quarter in 7 out of the 15 games this season. And to flame (who initiated the thread), I made the same comparison. The fluidity at which he plays the game to go along with his aggressiveness reminds me a lot of Gayle Sayers as well. He is a high character kid and works his butt off.....I personally feel that in Bama's system the kid will have the chance to represent the Tide at the Downtown Athletic Club in a couple of years. He is that special.

Then on his size:

quote:

Measured in at Georgia Junior Day at 5'9 1/2" 200lbs. Seeing him last week at his high school team's intraquad track meet, those dimensions appear to be accurate. His legs looked freakin monstrous in his speed suit. I have asked several times for these recruiting sites to update his measurables. Not sure what their process entails but they will probably do so after they get some official measurements from an upcoming camp or something. At that meet I also saw firsthand the 10.87 time in the 100m which was clocked on the school's Fully Automated Timing System. That time translates to a low 4.4 in the 40 for what it's worth.
