Nose tackle???

Why not? If Gentry could so could he. It would just take more strength and conditioning and would prob start out at DE beforing moving over in a couple years after gaining a bit more size.

LoL no dice to me

Adding on weight and strength to develop into another position takes away his strength and agility at his natural position

Of course it is all moot since he is coming to Bama, but telling him that is like telling Demarcus Ware that he can play DT or Lawrence Taylor in his hayday to play DT, just wrong

Gentry wasn't a true nose tackle. He was a situational backup who was brought in to boost the pass rush.

Regardless, any coach selling Nkemdiche on his potential as a nose tackle is lying his arse off. Considering the source though, it isn't surprising.

Grantham never said it was his ideal position but that he could play it, and im sure in time play it very well. Gentry was 6'1 165 and Nkemdiche is 6'5 160 with yet another year to gain size before that # is finalized. You take that size and put it in with a great S&C program and you could get an NFL NT in a few years. Would start at 34 DE and then move over.

However because of his athleticism and the fact that he wont redshirt and will only play 3 years it is doubtful that you would want to waste your time developing him into a NG when he fits DE so well.

Bad Idea. That would be like recruiting Trent back in 2009 when he was already 215-220 pounds and telling him that they will bulk him up to 250-255 in order to play some Fullback and H-Back.

You don't take an elite, low bodyfat, fast-twitch muscle fiber, explosive guy like Nkemdiche and bulk him to play a "clogger" position.

BTW.....I think Nkemdiche plays Jack LB in college. He's actually just under 6'4" barefoot and around 255-265 pounds as his weight fluctuates.

he would be more like gentry a pass rushing 3rd down type DT, the point is he could play DT at a very high level in time. Its just not ideal.

I still say he fits the 4-3 DE more.

He is a phenomenal athlete that would excel at either position...*whistles*

No shite though if Les somehow pulls this one out his arse I'm gonna be pissed....but it qwould only be fair for what Saban did....

I think we'll see a list toward the middle of the week. I'm curious to see who will be coming.

Here is a new twist in #UGA's recruitment of Robert Nkemdiche: he will get to play running back. 6-foot-4 265 lbs. https://insider.espn.go.com/colleges/georgia/football/recruiting/story/_/id/7567945/georgia-bulldogs-entertain-top-state-2013-prospect-teammates

they're basically telling him that he can play any position he wants to... desperate is a word that comes to mind.

Can't really blame them. Foster is already committed to us. Adams is by no means a UGA lock. If they lost the 3 best defensive prospects in the state it would look really bad. They pretty much have to get one of them to avoid looking incompetent.

Adams already said he wants to go out of state. I don't think UGA is much of a player for him. Clemson leads right now but I think a visit to Bama could easily sway him our way.

I can't honestly fathom why a defensive player would want to play for a program that gave up 70 points in a bowl game. But maybe that's exactly why he does. Immediate starting time available.
