I wonder why 247 has Allen so much higher than Scout and Rivals.

Alabama landed its 14th commitment Monday morning with Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge weakside defensive end Jonathan Allen committing hours after returning home from a visit to Tuscaloosa. The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder selected the Crimson Tide over finalist Florida and an assortment of offers from the nation's top programs.
Allen gives the Crimson Tide its second five-star commitment in the class of 2013.
“I felt like at the end of the day, Alabama is the best fit for me. I felt that in three years, I’d be more developed if I went there than anywhere else,” said Allen of his commitment.
The five-star prospect informed area recruiter and future position coach Lance Thompson of his commitment, much to the excitement of the Alabama staff.
“They were really excited. I just told Coach Lance Thompson. I haven’t told Coach Saban yet, because he’s out golfing, but I’m going to talk to him as soon as I get the opportunity.”
The commitment is a weight off Allen’s shoulders and marks the realization of a dream to play for the Crimson Tide, dating back to his time growing up in Anniston, Alabama.
“Oh man, it feels great. Ever since I’ve been a little kid, I’ve been a fan of the Crimson Tide and it’s a dream to be able to play for a team like that. It’s pretty special.”
Allen has a grade of 98 from 247Sports and is ranked as the no. 10 prospect in the nation by 247Sports. He becomes Alabama’s second five-star commitment alongside Reuben Foster, giving the Crimson Tide two top ten prospects.
The Washington D.C. area standout recorded 102 tackles and 15 sacks as a junior at Stone Bridge. He is Alabama’s first commitment from the commonwealth of Virginia in the class of 2013.

Yeah I know, which is why I don't understand why Rivals and Scout have him so much lower than 247. He is flat out abusing his competition, and Virginia has some pretty good HS football.

Alabama is recruiting on an unreal level right now. Tide has 14 commitments for 2013 - 12 have either a 4- or 5-star rating.

ESPN 150 DE Allen picks Alabama
By Derek Tyson | ESPN.com
Four-star and ESPN 150 defensive end Jonathan Allen (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) verbally committed to Alabama on Monday morning. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder chose Alabama over offers from Florida, Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech.
The No. 82-ranked player in the country recently named Florida and Alabama his co-leaders after visiting Florida for its spring game, but after a weekend trip to Tuscaloosa, Allen decided to pull the trigger for the Crimson Tide.
"At the end of the day I thought Alabama was the best fit for me," Allen said. "They give me the best opportunity to showcase my talents.
"Going to Alabama I will be competing with and against the best players in the country," he said. "I felt like at the end of the day that is going to make me a better player -- I enjoy the competition."
Allen, who over the last two seasons has registered over 190 tackles and 35 sacks, says Alabama will be getting a relentless defender.
"I feel like they are getting a high intensity player with a high motor that never quits," he said.
Allen, ranked as the No. 5 defensive end in the country, says he is still trying to work out details to enroll early at Alabama, but in the mean time Tide fans should not worry about him looking at other schools.
"I'm not taking anymore visits other than to Alabama," he said. "I'm done."
When Allen informed Nick Saban of the decision on Monday morning, the Alabama head coach was more than pleased.
"Coach Saban was excited when I told him. He said he wanted to go out and celebrate," Allen said.
Allen becomes the first defensive end commit for the Tide. Alabama now has 14 verbal commits, including eight that appear in the ESPN 150. Twelve of Alabama's 14 commits are ranked four-stars or higher.
WHAT DA FAAACCK!! Biggest commitment since Foster & they don't let Ostendorf write it!! They are jerking him around so bad
Come on ESPN!! STILL Can't contain my happiness!!!
