He got drunk and misbehaved while on a recruiting trip to osu. Osu pulled his offer. He has since had it reinstated.

It might be his attitude. tOSU stopped recruiting him when he went for a visit there and he tried to turn it around like he stopped considering tOSU. Very talented player, but he may have a bit of an attitude.

I've never been able to get a legit straight answer on that question. I've heard rumors of a handler and bad grades but haven't seen any proof yet.

Oh...well that's nothing. Unless there are eligibility issues, I have no problems with taking on guys who have character question marks.

Matthew Thomas at safety?

A couple of days ago I was watching some highlights on Matthew Thomas. Seeing his "first step" got me to thinking about Barron and Sunseri as Strong Safety. Both of them are hybrid SS/LB that Saban/Smart like to roll up to play at Money when we go to the Dime package. Matthew Thomas has a build that would fit well in that roll and he would be killer bringing the hammer as a run support SS. The biggest questions are, can Pruit teach him to be a safety and can Cochran build his quick twitch first step into the speed needed to drop into deep third pass coverage. I think he has the tools to be able to answer yes to both questions but would likely need a RS year with that as the plan to get him there.

Here is how I put it a day or two ago.

quote:

Looking at Matthew Thomas, I would love to see Cochran have a year to work on his speed while Pruit taught him to play strong safety. Not sure it is a realistic goal but he would certainly have the hit factor coming up in run support.

Ya I think he has the speed to play in coverage. Him coming from the second level in run support would be a sight to see.

Just got back to this thread and Bone's chat notes.

Only thing, you have to read this thread often or you get lost.

I could see Thomas being Jerrel Harris 2.0 at LB or Barron 2.0 at SS.

Can you imagine having Thomas at SS and Stewart at CB? Two guys 6'3 starting in the secondary

Stewart isn't 6-3, is he? Most sites have him listed at around 6-1 185, except Rivals, which has him at 6-3.

No prob also my arms are I guess avg for a 6'5 guy and his arms are almost a full hand longer than mine was, like a basketball player long for his height

I didn't want to derail the other thread in regards to Allen. Like I've been saying for months, I'll be completely shocked if he doesn't commit to Bama on or shortly thereafter his trip.

Take a look at the current roster, then add to that what looks to be a very good signing class for 2013. Now just try to imagine the starting D for 2014. The next 3 years should be amazing!
