Yeah...early PT is all but guaranteed to anyone who comes in and does really well. Our offense just isn't appealing to QBs. They would rather go somewhere like USC that runs a vertical passing pro-style that is conducive to big QB stats. IMO, Saban is more willing to have a wide open/big play offense than he is given credit for, and the main reason we have been so much of a run 1st offense under him is the fact that Ingram/Trent >>>>>>>>>> McElroy and Trent >>>> McCarron as a 1st year starter. Now that AJ has a year of experience under his belt and a less experienced group of RBs behind him, I am expecting us to lean on QB play a bit more this season.

exactly what I've read with top 2 being Utah and Bama. He really like Nussemeir (sp?) I think which is what led to his interest in Washington. Could be wrong though.

Rivals had McCarron at 7 and ESPN at 4 and Scout had him way down. LINK

And Sims was number 1 on ESPN, and was 2 on rivals and scout

Scout and ESPN both suck, but good stuff nonetheless.

Either way, it will be interesting to see what Bateman does.

interviews and 247. I'll see what I can find for you. I think you guys are stuck with Johnson and that's if you can get him from LSU.

LINK

Auburn visit:

‘This place was awesome'

One of the nation's top QB's made the trip from Utah to Auburn this week

Bama visit:

Top 100 QB loves Bama visit

This Salt Lake City signal caller and top 100 prospect visited the Capstone earlier this week and came away impressed.

LSU visit:

Elite QB impressed with LSU

One of the top quarterbacks in the country visited LSU for its spring game and came away very impressed with the Tigers

can't find it but there was an article where he was saying how cool it was to talk to Saban, etc.

I've also read articles saying he wants to stay in-state so family and friends can see his games.

Not being petty, but that hardly constitutes Bama being above all others. Utah makes sense because it is home.

I agree that's why I was hoping Bama fans could help me out with what they know. I only know what I've read which seems to me to be he is open to about 4 or 5 schools right now. I don't think Washington has much of a chance now that Nuss was hired by Bama.

Not to mention just snagging top abs recently. My main concern is UF w/ their oc.

I hear you, but I have yet to see where he has chosen a top anything let alone a top two. If anyone has a definitive link, by all means post it.

He just visited Washington or is in the near future so I'd venture to say his interest has more to do with Sark than Nuss. NFL people will tell you Sark is/was the draw to Washington not Nuss. Nuss is a good coach and may have had good relationships with the qb recruits so I'm not being negative towards him at all but Sark is the draw and has the rep at Washington.

I think it's a Bama,Utah,UF battle with Auburn a sleeper if they can't swing Rettig. Have always felt UF would land him but I never discount home or Bama.

If it comes down to us and UF then i have to think we would win that battle easily. If im not mistaken UF has a lot of quality young QBs already on deck.

EDIT: i know at one point they had driskel who is a star and that jacoby brisset kid (spelling?).

I wouldn't say that. We're major players for Bateman, Rettig, Olsen, and Buchanan

As for Bateman, I wouldn't count AU out just yet. Bateman has said Loeffler is recruiting him the hardest of all the coaches and they have a really good relationship already.

agreed about Bateman.

Rettig/Buchanan- I was talking about 4 star guys and above

Olsen- I can't see him not going to the U like his Brother. I do think if he goes anywhere but Miami it will be Auburn.

Rettig is a 4* guy. The main concern with him is how he responds to tearing his ACL last year. If he comes back just as strong, he'll move up in the rankings.

If USC would have missed on Browne, Rettig was next in line. He's damn good, I hope we can snag him

"Coach Loeffler, what an awesome guy. Phone calls only go so far, but out of any of the coaches recruiting me, Loeffler talks to me the most," said Bateman. "Getting to meet him in person was a great opportunity, and the way he carries himself is something I like."

Bateman doesnt have an offer from us yet but he said he is coming back in June to throw for Saban at camp. On his visit, he said he felt he could contribute without red shirting and that was before Sims announced publicly he was leaving. Also said Saban was a living legend.

If he is making a trip back to throw, he definitely has some pretty decent interest.

Oh there's no doubt there's interest, I could see Bama getting him. But he really hasn't given any hints to where he's leaning IMO. He seems to like the SEC, and I think he could end up at Bama, Auburn, or Florida

He is on every other site. And the part about him moving up once he proves his knee is ok is actually from Barton Simmons, one of the main 247 analysts. So he'll move up to the Top 247 more than likely
