From OJ Howard:
quote:

"It's tough because you are committed to a school and you don't want to try and make it seem like you aren't committed, you want to respect that school. But at the same time, it's the recruiting process so you have to look at both schools like they have a chance. I don't try to put one school down or one school above another because you haven't signed any papers yet. I'd say both schools are the same, I talk with both coaches, I've been to both schools, and at the end of the day you have to see what school fits you the best."

It's been said before. Many prospects nowadays don't want a commitment, they want a reservation.

AMM AU9893's got it posted.

quote:

"I'm just letting things play out right now, just seeing what happens. I'm ready for the college football season to start so I can evaluate both teams and how they use their tight-end," Howard said. "I like the way Auburn uses their tight-end a lot, because they use motion and I like how they will use the player. Alabama throws the ball to the tight-end, but they don't motion that much. That was a factor that I thought Auburn did that Alabama didn't."

Also says he's "taking it easy" right now with the recruiting. He's going to watch how Auburn and Alabama use their tight ends during the season and do some pros and cons.

Bama motions the H-back just about every play. But we don't motion them out to the flats very often so maybe that's what he's talking about.

Where the hell has he been watching football the last 12 months? At Alabama they often refer to the H-back as the motion TE.

Gonna be a shite ton of involvement I think because other than Michael Williams who sadly is good catcher but a damn liability with it in his hands, we have a bunch of great receiving TEs so gonna be interesting

He sounded pretty uninformed when he said that, but I'm liking it at the moment. It'll be interesting to see how much Loeffler uses Lutz this year.

I mean, we aren't exactly thin at tight end with Ricky Parks, Darrion Hutcherson, CJ Uzomah, and Brandon Fulse, so is there any chance OJ Howard would be a good defensive end or linebacker? I'd love to have a huge linebacker like that for once?

I was gonna respond to that 1st part with "I bet you are liking it" as tongue and cheek, but then you offended the game of football so much with that last statement OMG seriously? Dude is like a HS version of Vernon Davis ALL the elite TE skills, almost like a bigger more physical less quick/fast Julio, dude is THAT good no need to switch him to D, he's a baller

That may be true, but we've recruited at the Tight End position so well under Chizik, I just don't see the point in putting him behind some other players. Ricky Parks and Brandon Fulse were both almost as highly recruited as OJ Howard has been. And if he's a greate athlete, why not try him at linebacker? I wouldn't mind seeing another Karlos Dansby on that side of the ball. Plus, BVG loves the bigger linebackers.
