Truth. If he is already 19 or going to turn 19 (fairly certain he is) then he is ineligible in the state of Alabama

quote:

SECTION 3. AGE RULE. A student is ineligible to participate in high school interscholastic athletics if he/she reaches his/her 19th birthday prior to August 1 of the current school year. If he/she reaches his/her 19th birthday on or after August 1, he/she shall be eligible for the entire school year as far as the Age Rule is concerned

On the other hand, if he decides for some reason to pass on his senior year of FB and move to Bama, well, I'm pretty sure that tells you all you need to know about where he will be signing. No defense on our part for that

Georgia age law:

quote:

1.30 - AGE To be eligible to participate in interscholastic activities, a student must not have reached his 19th birthday prior to May 1st, preceding his year of participation.

He can't play in Georgia either if he is really 19.

I'm not really interested in the higher sections of BDS, would like something low or around the middle, and as close to the 50 as possible.

No one hassles you about your beer in the upper deck.

Not bringing beer, why on earth would I take beer to an Alabama football game! Craziness I tell you.

Anywho, anyone from last year's team going to be on the sidelines (announced?)

There are some restrictions apparently, but I'm not sure how exactly they work. The two in GA I've heard he is looking at are Sandy Creek and Newnan.

ETA: Do any of ya'll know Reuben's b-day? Because if he turns 19 after May 1st but before August 1st, he can play in GA but not AL

There were kids I played with in HS that were 19. The only time it was a problem was when a kid failed a grade and the GHSAA granted him a hardship waiver since his father died and he missed his finals one semester so he was held back. He might have to go before a panel, but it shouldn't be a problem for him to play his Sr. Year.

Yeah, at least when I was in HS there was. That was a decade ago, though.

Ok, JHD over on LHB just broke it down like this: look at the fine print of each bylaw:

in AL, it says
quote:

"A student is ineligible to participate in high school interscholastic athletics if he/she reaches his/her 19th birthday prior to August 1 of the current school year.

So, in AL, with an April 3, 1993 b-day reuben is ineligible

However, in GA it reads
quote:

quote:
a student must not have reached his 19th birthday prior to May 1st, preceding his year of participation.

So, as long as he wasn't born April 3, 1992, Reuben is eligible in GA

This May 1st precedes next year, & he will be 19, I don't see how he would be eligible.

Wow, Foster is originally from Tuskegee, AL...

That's only 20 minutes from my house.

Good lord, that kid is 5 months older than me. And I'm old for my grade. And I'm a grade higher than him.
