Not me.

Show me the math that proves distracted driving is more dangerous than driving more than 3 times the speed limit while being over 2 times the BAC.

There's an exponential effect you aren't considering.

And. Here. We. Go.

Why do you think I bitched so hard about "mistake" ?

Because I knew. It's a word, purposely selected, as a euphemism. Because what you really can't say is "Well, yeah, he burned that girl alive, but come on, shite happens and he's alive and she's dead".

So you picked "mistake". Then you doubled-down on it when pressed. Mistake, eh ? Let's hope not all mistakes end with ball-players driving 150 MPH and burning women to death.

But I promise you - the correlation between those driving 150 MPH and people burning to death will be high enough that "mistake" won't quite explain it.

You bitched about the word mistake because you are a dumbass who think it has meanings that it doesn't. As you once again demonstrated with this post.

The meaning of that word has no bearing on what the laws are.

But I guess I shouldn't expect much from someone who doesn't understand that an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

No - I have not. I can honestly say that. No. And that's part of this stupid fricking thread.

A bunch of people that want to defend Ruggs because he was driving stupid fast. And there's a demographic on today's roads - started a couple years ago - that routinely drive 30-40 MPH over the speed limit. Speed limits don't apply to them.

Okay.

Intentional reckless endangerment.

That’s what he did. Not a mistake.

People on their phones are more likely to causes accidents. I've seen data on it before, and it was worse than drunk driving in the context it was presented.

I would have to say that it was likely based on what is legally drunk and not the more extreme cases of being drunk in this case. IE: Driving distracted by a phone is likely not as dangerous as someone with his high blood alcohol level.

I haven't seen the video but regardless of whether or not she was laughing it is my understanding, the girl articulated for him to stop and let her out. Laughing doesn't imply she wanted him to drive intoxicated at 158 mph. It is just another way to blame a victim.

Manslaughter. I gave the thread another word - since they didn't like my word.

Didn't see "Fuzzy Nick Saban" agree. Why ? Well - we all know. It's why I busted on the use of "mistake". If it was as simple as the use of a word, they'd use my word instead. Why not ?

We all know why. It's a long-winded effort to defend Ruggs - who, lets not forget, drove 150 MPH and burned a girl alive.

I know what you're talking about, I've seen that study. And you're right, driving distracted is more dangerous than driving drunk.

There are variables in this specific case that prevent the findings in that study from applying; rate of speed and level of intoxication.

How old are you?

Im not sure who you are implying, but I'm 35. When I was in college every guy that had driven had gone 100mph at least once, I know a ton of men twice my age who admit to the same. You are the outlier here.

And I'm not defending Ruggs, im saying he still deserves love from others. He also doesn't deserve life in prison.

You've also never, ever, not even once, looked at your phone while driving?

Then it's easy to shut me up. You can do it right now.

Ruggs is guilty of Manslaughter and should receive the maximum sentence. Just say it.

Who has a problem with you using the word Manslaughter? It is THE definition of what he did.

He committed manslaughter and he is going to go to prison for it, and he's going to lose his wealth in civil suits to her family. All of which he deserves.

Not at 150 MPH. Because that's fricking nuts. And that's the point.

Some behaviors are more dangerous than others.

Yeah, pretty sure texting and driving isn't quite in the same universe as going 156 mph through a busy city, and running intersections while piss drunk.

Committing manslaughter is also a pretty terrible mistake in my book.

Then use it. And use it every time Young Master Ruggs is discussed with his unfortunate accident.

Because what he did was First Degree Manslaughter, easily justified with the maximum penalty, for burning a young girl to death. Then, if you like, say that his Manslaughter offense was an unfortunate "mistake".

That would make me happy.
