I get the decision, but man… arnett is in a very difficult spot.
Hes 36… replacing a guy who everyone loved… he has no real coaching connections… that’s not to say he can’t be successful, but there’s some cards stacked against him.

Graham Harrell at WVU is probably a candidate.
It makes sense on the surface. Coached by Leach himself. Runs a modernized air raid offense (I think?).
Honestly, WV flew so far under the radar this year that I don't know much about him. Can anyone enlighten me?

I didn't pay much attention at WVU either, but his offenses at North Texas were an air-raid style attack and his offense at USC when not hindered by QB injuries was as well. Looking at just the stats, look like he was almost 50/50 this year between passing and running at WVU whereas previous years it was more like 60% pass, 40% run. That said, that guy knows Leach's offense like the back of his hand so he'd be a good candidate I think.

I just don’t think folks realize how Mike Leach elevated his staffs… he surrounded himself with coaches who worked well together, but he was the superstar who made it work.
Trying to plug a guy like arnett into that role is so damn risky… if he’s not the type to elevate like Leach, I’m not sure it’s gonna work.
This is where state not having an AD in place to run a real search hurts.

I'm good with this. If we were all in on the staff before this, why would this change it?
Cohen would've over thought this and destroyed our football program by hiring someone outside(like he did with WBB).
I like that we learned our lesson here.

You know who he is. He's the guy who told LSU to pound sand when they tried to hire him away.

Like he destroyed it when he hired Mike Leach?

No like he destroyed it when he hired Joe Moorhead

Garrett Riley maybe ? Lincoln’s brother is OC at TCU That’s a HR for sure

Some fans won't like the hasty hire, but it had to be done to preserve this recruiting class and prevent mass transfers.
Good job by State.

This. I think Cohen did a B to B+ job at State. Sure, he brought us Moorhead. But he also brought us Leach, Lemonis, and our first baseball Natty.

Joe Moorhead
Moorhead was a more successful P5 coordinator than Arnett and had some HC experience. I really liked the hire at the time, thought it showed some creativity on States part.
It didn’t work out, but that happens sometimes.

Anyone would have been in a difficult spot given the circumstances. Arnett at least knows the program, has exceeded expectations on defense and deserves a shot. I’m rooting for him hard.

He can pretend he won the national championship all he wants. But he had nothing to do with it.

You’re not wrong… but that’s where being inexperienced is gonna be tough. This guys only experience outside of Starkville is at San Diego State for a handful of years.
Trying to learn on the job here is a monster task that very few coaches have done successfully in the SECW…. And that’s without the circumstances of following a real legend like leach.

Bowl game will tell us a lot about Arnett ability to gameplan and get players focused in

Would Spurrier Jr be any good as OC? Looks like he's been with Leach since 2018.
