The thing is, Delpit was the best/most dominant DB in the country last year but yet the CB from Georgia won the Thorpe.

He wasn't a finalist. It was between Baker, Greedy Williams, and Julian Love (Notre Dame).

Baker was incredible last season.

I totally agree with your statement about Baker, he was tremendous last year but I think Delpit was on another level last year and impacted the games more than Baker. If Delpit was eligible for the draft last year he would have went considerably higher than Baker.

This could be one of THOSE years for LSU. Impressive and I tip my hat to you guys. The family and I are going to New Orleans the weekend of the SECCG. Looking forward to Bourbon Street on Saturday night after the game!

Baw, you could get killed out there!

Start off at Bourbon during the day.

Bring the wife to Frenchman instead.

Live music everywhere and good eats within walking distance!

He's not even the best DB on LSU; that's Stingley.

Nope.

Secondary stats are always a little misleading because great corners don’t get thrown at. Fulton is LSU’s best DB; literally no one tries to throw in his direction:

Georgia has a good defense though, so having a Georgia player on the list makes sense

He's still the #1 or #2 safety on most draft boards.

If draft position was relevant, Jeudy would be a finalist for the WR award.

Delpit just hasn't been as good as his teammates this year. That isn't just my opinion - I've seen many LSU fans calling out his play style this season.

I'd at least see him up there in tackles; he's 23 back of Stevens on LSU among DBs. He's got 2 TFL compared to Stevens' 8.5. Hell, Stevens leads LSU in sacks (5). Delpit hasn't recorded any. Stevens has 2 INT to Delpit's 1.

Stevens has just looked like the better safety from a production standard in 2019. Why isn't his name on the list if that's the metric?

I still think Delpit is getting the benefit of the doubt of pre-season hype.

Probably, but Stevens and Delpit have very different roles. Stevens plays at the line most of the game and is more of a hybrid LB. Not a great comparison.

I agree Stevens has balled out and has flown under the radar this season. He should be the hyped up senior leader going into next year.

Actually Fulton has been much better than Stingley this year. People are targeting sting right now because Fulton has been do dominate.

So many good choices:
If you want to venture out of the quarter, Gautreau’s is excellent.
I like the barbecued shrimp at Mr. B’s.
Breakfast at Brennan’s is a treat.
First time at Sylvain’s recently, very good.
I would like to try Justine’s again. New place. Parisian bistro.
And the places errerrewhere listed too.

These awards are often a year behind. Delpit was incredible last year.
This year, he may well lead the league in missed tackles. Stevens and Fulton (possibly Stingley) are outplaying him this year.
Last year, Greedy was on the list and was outplayed by Fulton and Delpit.

What a difference in what one side of the family can do when they took over though.
