I know people like to complain about an easy schedule, but do some people here actually think that schedules get manipulated? Surely you don't actually think that.
Whether they do or they don't, if the schedule is set (i.e., who you are going to play is pre-determined), then all people can complain about is the order and location. If we have an odd number to rotate through (as we will in baseball, where there are only going to be 2 permanent opponents), there will always be speculation as to how the rotation is determined.

They should release the schedules 8-10 years in advance.. easy solution

The SEC has to be willing to sacrifice some old rivalries...which they lost the argument for when they agreed to expand

But what qualifies as “old”?

& you’ld figure they would preserve the older & eliminate the newer.

I would personally choose:
UGA
LSU
Texas

Most sense:
UGA
LSU
AUB or Vols

If we never play SC again I would be ok with that.

I prefer UK over SC.
Despite the 35 years win streak we put on them.

You mean “schedule rotation” which USED to be given.

But with you & OK joining, 2024 was “just thrown together”. Then they said 2025 was 2024 with flipped locations.

Then they said “expect news for 2026” which lead to 9cg’s & realignment discussions.

But, now with the ACC near the cliff & the media package about to renew, …

No clue what the next decade holds.

Texas LSU Arky . 3 schools close to OU and it would be a balanced schedule .

Texas, Aggies and Mizzou for Sooners.

UF Basketball I would choose:

UK
Arky (only because UK, UF and Arky are the Big 3 here)
UGA

nice work. If history comes into play then SC would be UGA's 3rd and not Kentucky.

Should be Tennessee, not Kentucky. And no team should be allowed to claim a permanent rivalry with any team that has not won at least 3 SEC titles. Let the bottom teams play each other.
Bammer will claim Vandy, Arky, and South Carolina just to get the easy wins.

In the end, it's just math and the fact people who vote in polls don't really know what they are doing.

All conference games come out to a .500 record for the conference, so the more of them you add, the more the conference overall conference record(including OOC games) will be closer to .500. Where as if they schedule OOC games and win them, the conferences overall record will be higher. The higher record means higher ranked teams, better bowl games, more playoff teams, etc.

The only way to offset that is to have some really bad teams that take the bulk of the losses to allow top teams better records. Then it can help, but that's not the SEC.

If the people who did the polls and such would actually take SoS into account it wouldn't be an issue. But all anyone ever looks at is record, and only when the record is even do they consider SoS.

So staying at 8 is best for the conference in the bigger picture.

The OOC games also provide useful links between conferences that help with comparisons. Without them, you get bubbles. If anything, we need higher quality OOC games, but even the lower quality ones(but still FBS) provide some value.

Aubie is up 33-7 and one forfeit by Ole Miss since realignment. 2022 was Ole Miss first win in Oxford since 2008 and 2023 was the first win at JHS in 8 years.

2022 - 2023 was first back to back wins for Ole Miss since 1951 -1952 and it was during a potato famine.
The famine is over.
You are right, never been much of a thing.

it's gonna be almost impossible to satisfy everyone - for reference - here's the SEC's most played series - Original 10 -

129 DSOR
121 Egg Bowl
120 Beer Barrel Kentucky v Tennessee
118 or 119 Tennessee v Vanderbilt - depending on who you ask
117 LSU v Mississippi State
113 LSU v Ole Miss
108 Alabama v Mississippi State
107 Alabama v Tennessee
102 or 103 WLOCP - depending on who you ask

98 Ole Miss v Vanderbilt
97 Auburn v Mississippi State
97 Kentucky v Vanderbilt

89 Iron Bowl
89 Alabama v LSU
86 Alabama v Vanderbilt
84 Auburn v Florida <===== and hasn't been played yearly since 2002 (4 times since)

every other series for the Original 10 is in the 70s or less -

**Georgia & Carolina have played 76 times in the regular season - Georgia & Alabama 68 in the regular season (+6 more in SECCG & CFP)
