You have to go back to 2002 to find the SEC West this weak...

Not since the 2002 Arkansas Razorbacks can you find a weaker Western division champion than 2022 LSU. They are ranked #5 right now by virtue of their OT victory in Baton Rouge over a SUPER overrated Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Stranger things have happened but I honestly feel like the 2022 SEC Championship Game will look an awful lot like the 2002 SEC Championship Game.

2020 SEC West had three teams above 500.
Bama 13-0
A&M 9-1
Auburn 6-5
LSU 5-5
Ole Miss 5-5
Miss State 4-7
Arkansas 3-7
Pretty weak if you ask me.

Bama overrated?

Bama was properly rated.
Bama failed to utilize the talent on its 5-star roster.
Bama lost (and nearly lost) games this season because of coaching and execution.
Saban is on the decline. He looks old now. He’s ready for the rocker on the front porch.

If Alabama wins the West, the world is normal. If not, West is weak. Seasons like 2010 and 2019 don’t count.
College football has been around from 1923-1946. It resumed from 1958-1982. There was one season in 1992. Then it has been played again since 2007. Alabama invented football.

Not sure why that matters. It is more along the lines that all the teams in the west have struggled this year. Auburn and Texas A&M are absolute dumpster fires. Arkansas barely above that.
Basically the west is what the east was.
