From what I understand they are investigating coaches taking bribes to sway players to sign with a particular agent and not players being paid to go to a particular college. Is that incorrect? I haven't read all of the stuff out there, but that's the gist of what I'm getting from local radio.

Wade’s stupid arse decision talk deals over the phone already give LSU a black eye. He ultimately exposed LSU to an NCAA inquiry/investigation whether any impermissible shite ever took place or not. A Head Coach in a place of authority can’t be wheelin and dealin on the damn phone with “third party affiliates”, telling them you’ll “get them what they need”, and talking about splitting up pieces of the pie.

They discovered a murder while investigating a robbery.....that doesn't count then.

It's not formal semantics. A subpoena from the FBI and a subpoena from a defendant are incredibly different situations. So much so it causes people to see the trial aspect of this thing and Will Wade's involvement in a completely different context.

And to the point of your original post, yes, defense teams subpoena people all the time for mundane reasons. Many don't end up testifying, which is a real possibility with Wade.

If I wanted to play semantics, I'd tell you the FBI doesn't subpoena anyone to testify in a trial. that is not in their purview. But I knew you meant the prosecution when you said that, so I avoided the semantics.

Never said it doesn't count. My comment was geared towards the idea that the FBI is investigating Wade for cheating.

Are you forgetting that the NCAA has no such restrictions on them when bringing a case against a member school?....this ain't the American judicial system we're talking about here.

The FBI isn't gonna put LSU on probation....the NCAA is from the info obtained from the FBI probe.

The FBI is going to share information with the NCAA? What's been released so far isn't enough to put anyone on probation.

Is the FBI investigating Will Wade?

No, I'm not forgetting anything. I never said anything about the NCAA.

As a matter of fact, that's exactly what the poster I responded to was talking about. And many here are absolutely talking about the American judicial system.

There is almost no chance the trials that were/are at the heart of all this will impact Wade in any way (short of perjury assuming he ultimately does testify). That's a completely different subject than the NCAA.

I believe it's about bball sneaker companies paying players to go to certain schools.........with the blessing of the HC of said school. It's all adidas and nike schools. Thank goodness UA wasn't brought into this.

Oh I thought they were for some reason. I don't really want to see any SEC teams involved. I love basketball and enjoy seeing the conference being competitive nationally.

I am afraid a lot of schools are going to get drug into this before it's all said and done. The FEDS haven't even started on the Nike schools yet.

That's one of the things I guess I'm clinging to as an LSU fan. Maybe, just maybe Wade will be a small fish in this thing.

He, nor any of the coaches, are in trouble with the FEDS.

The problem is....the FEDS are getting the dirt. In years past the NCAA could not use what the FEDS found as evidence. The NCAA changed that rule. Now, the NCAA does not have to investigate anything and can use what the FEDS find against these schools.

Wait, they’re investigating coaches taking bribes to steer players to certain agents? This is the Chuck Persons (Auburn) investigation? Then why the hell are they prosecuting the agents for defrauding the schools?

Do you realize that the tapes have been heard by a large number of non-FBI people and they're being quoted verbatim in the press?

That is where it all started. Those schools had coaches trying to pay the best players to leave.

That investigation morphed into the shoe companies buying players for schools..........which turned into HC's/assts, on wire taps, trying to buy players.

I'm asking more than stating. As I said, I haven't read through the whole thing. Truth be told, I hate to read and don't read all of those news stories. I'm going off of what I heard on the radio.
