Imagine if all of Kentucky was eastern Kentucky hill country and that’s it. No Lexington horse farms, no Louisville area bourbon distilleries, no Churchill Downs, etc. That’s what virtually all of West Virginia is. There isn’t a meaningful metro area in the entire state. There’s zero reason to expand there and it simply isn’t happening under any circumstance.

The Pittsburgh market did nothing for the ACC or BE. It's a pro sports town.
You’re not thinking critically, which is what we all expect from you.
You start bringing Alabama, Georgia, and LSU into Morgantown, the entire western PA region just started watching. That’s what we call growth potential in market share.

Yes, academics. That doesn’t apply to the SEC, only market share.
Academics combined with their extremely small market and reputation for being horrible fans and an unpleasant road trip.
And yes, the SEC is not as snotty as the ACC and B10 over academics but it does still play a factor. WVU would be the lowest ranked university in the conference. 3 of the 4 expansions we have recently made have been AAU schools and OU fits solidly with the SEC’s mid-tier academically. WVU brings absolutely nothing in any relevant expansion category for the SEC.

Before the ACC and big10 added west coast teams, WVU in the big12 was the oddest fit.
I think you could get away with de-creating a new big east with the following:
WVU
Pitt
Penn State
Notre Dame
Miami
UCF
USF
Va Tech
Louisville
BC
Syracuse
Cincinnati

WVU is a tiny slice of the Pittsburgh sports market and is the biggest rival of Pitt. We wouldn’t be making any sustainable inroads into that market, other than the occasional casual viewer who might tune in hoping to see WVU lose. And the Pittsburgh market isn’t that great to begin with.
Clemson played at Pitt last year and tickets were like 20 bucks in a half empty stadium. Pittsburgh people don’t magically care about college sports because a big name comes to town a few times a year.

God no
Had to sit amongst them at 2006 Sugar Bowl
Trashiest fan base I've ever encountered.

Why do you insist on being such a dumbass? In what way is the big 10 the top league??

When Oliver Luck(WVU AD at the time) tried this during his conversation with B1G officials, they told him if they wanted that market, then they would add Pitt.

Visiting the above 2 in a few weeks, but I will not being stopping at the football stadium. John Denver mentioned above 2 in his iconic song, but did not mention the football team.

No, not as of now, but who knows if Rich Rod can get the band back together.

Mizzou was the worst addition the SEC has ever made.
I love it that you guys hate Mizzou. It means that we're doing something right. If a bunch of LSU DAs loved Mizzou being in the conference, that would be a red flag.
BTW, keep complaining about something that happened 13 years ago and isn't ever going to change. That's a great use of your energy. Not that you'd be doing anything constructive otherwise.

No thanks to WVU. If we are going to ever expand again get UNC.

The Big 12 and WVU claim the SEC is trying to sabotage the Big 12 by stealing West Virginia.
Not sure how taking WVU would make sense for the SEC anymore.

Access to Western Virginia, parts of Pennsylvania, and the Pittsburgh markets for advertisers and network bundling for the ACC and SEC Networks. Additionally, it eliminates the need to deal with the Big XII for the Backyard Brawl, and it doubles-down on the ACC/SEC dichotomy for ESPN's network production capabilities. Before Missouri came into the picture, WVU was the preferred partner alongside A&M.
P.S. We could get a nice set of rivalries between Kentucky (Bourbon), Tennessee (Whiskey), and West Virginia (Moonshine), too.
