Offense. It's easier to outscore someone with a great offense than to hold them to less than 14 points every game.

But a great defense can hold a team to 14 points every game.

I guess it depends on how you use your offense when you have a great D and vice versa.

Tell the O, just don't frick it up. And if you have a great O, just tell the D just get a couple turnovers.

Seems like a lot of parallels between the two. I've always said both programs would likely be in the same positions if the coaching hires were reversed.

Your beef with Richt is the same as Mizzou's beef with Pinkel. He's done great for the program, but I think the Georgia recruiting was just better versus having to try to develop pipelines in Texas and reestablish STL at Mizzou for Pinkel.

This is one of my points of measurement for Mizzou versus other programs. I truly think Pinkel would be in the same position as Richt now if he'd have been at UGA and Richt was as Mizzou. It's just about the deficiencies we have as a program.

Stupid question is stupid: you can't have a big O without a solid D.

I hope you are right.

Auburn 2010 D was aweful early season, but that O was as big as it gets. I guess a great O can help a bad D and vice versa.

But to say that D was solid until around game 8 or 9 is a sad statement.

offense...more fun to watch.

LSU's 9-6('11) win in Tuscaloosa, or Auburn's 7-3('06) or 10-9('04) wins over LSU were far more exciting than a sloppy Big12 shootout. There was little room for error in those games, the outcome hinged on every teeth rattling hit. Opinions can differ though.

But as an LSU/Saints fan, I've gotten used to watching D on Sat. and O on Sun. It all works out, I guess.

It seems like now days most teams put all their marbles in the offensive bag.

You rarely see a team have both, so if you had to make a choice and pick one to make your run at a championship which do you go with?

Strange seeing an Alabama fan asking this question. But since you did, I'll go with defense.

LSU is the best example of this, because they've had good teams for years with an awful offense. Alabama often had better defenses, but always had a decent offense, too. Many, many schools have great offenses, but awful defenses. Btw, some of our defenses under Petrino were not as bad as bad as advertised, but were still not good enough to win championships.

20 years ago, I might have gone with offense, because there were few creative offenses around. Today, great offenses seem to come easier then great defenses. Of course there are exceptions of offenses that simply can't be stopped, so they win a lot, but I'd rather have a great defense.

I'm gonna go with O simply because my team made it happen with the O in 2010. Given our run D was pretty nasty as well but, to me a high speed offense is just more entertaining as a fan.

Lot's of truth in that, as every Arkansas fan should know.

D. Hasn't read the whole thread, and I'm sure this has been mentioned, but stalling one an nc with as mediocre an offense as I've ever seen. Only time I've ever seen 14 0 wins feel like absolute blow outs.
