Sam probably isn't the only gay guy in the NFL

Go back and read about some of the antics of Albert Haynesworth.

I would bet a lot of money that NFL locker rooms are a lot worse than college ones.

No due to physical weakness and slowness.

I believe it

But as the only OPEN gay guy in the NFL, he is a potential lightning rod for a lot of LGBT bullshite most businesses probably wouldn't want to have to deal with

I actually commend the Rams for taking on this challenge, but I cringe at the shitshow that will commence the moment he doesn't make the team, start a game, etc...

1. because he doesn't have the measurables or athleticism to even get drafted.

2. He brings too much drama with playing up the gay card. He knew what he was doing trying to play to the sympathy factor to get drafted higher because he couldn't stand on just his physical and stats against weak opponents.

Even after he was drafted, a while later he says that he should have gone in the third round.

quote:

"From last season alone, I should've been in the first three rounds -- SEC Defensive player of the year, All-American," Sam said, listing off his 2013 accomplishments, via the Rams official website. "I should have gone in the top three rounds easily."

That right there rubbed me the wrong way (no pun intended).

Agreed.

There are plenty of good players in high school that won't make it in college. And there are plenty of good players in college that won't make it in the pros.

I'm not saying he won't have a good career, I'm just saying I think based off his measurables and after examining his stats, the odds are stacked against him.

Bring in the fact that he is a potential shite storm unlike any other the NFL has ever witnessed, and I'm just not risking it.

I dont thin so my man. Very few NFL/NFLPA contracts are guaranteed money.

Unless you are a superstar your job is ALWAYS on the line.

Oh, sure they are...in theory. But the reality is that Jeff Fisher did a piss poor job of making some of those Titans behave themselves. He had absolutely zero control over the actions of White, Jones, and Haynesworth, and he will be absolutely impotent to stop any harassment of Sam.

Considering Haynesworth was productive and awesome in TN and horrible everywhere else, I think fisher did a great job

That's not the point. The point is that Fisher was completely unable to stop Haynesworth's off-field bad behavior. When the guys in that locker room start abusing Sam, Fisher won't be able to stop it, especially if, as you pointed out, they are producing on the field.

I find that comment far more offense than his sexual preference. If he plans on keeping it about football, he needs to walk the walk and shut the talk.

In the 7th round? Yes.

Its not a valuable pick anyway and you secure his rights vs udfa market.

Something to be said for this. If you would look at the guy as an UDFA you are better off picking him in the 7th round. Frequently UDFAs get higher signing bonuses than 7th rounders.

Having said that he doesn't seem like an NFL player to me, too much of a tweener. He may be able to make a long career as a special teamer but I just don't see him as being anything other than JAG.

Are you? Go back and do a little research into the escapades of some of those clowns in Nashville. Does the name Pacman fricking Jones ring a bell?

No, too many problems associated with it. Also, I just don't think many people like him are actually football fans so it's not like it is helping the brand.

No. Seems like it would be too big of a distraction. Winning has a lot to do with team chemistry. Seems like most of his antics have been forced/staged. Don't know if he in it for the right reasons.
