Would you half-a$$ your job if you could get fired and get a big payout from it?

For a coach in the right position, seems like a much better alternative than early retirement if you’ve lost your fire. Carry on….

They get paid generational money EVERY year, so yeah, complacency can be great, especially when we now give them 4 plus year contracts for "recruiting".

I half-arse my job now and don't get big money from it.

Soo...yeah definitely.

I’d have that intention from day one. Sign the contract solely intending to cash the buyout and immediately get to work getting myself fired. You know, like Urban Meyer did in Jacksonville

Of course. I'd be practicing my golf swing and booking beach vacations.

that’s kind of what separates the Sabans and the Kirby’s from the rest of these guys. Those two are sick fricks who like the way the college football sausage is made. Normal folk like Brother Hugh just wanna frick around with hookers and play golf

College coaches have it way harder than their NFL brothers, and they get the paychecks to match.

Yeah. If I saw my hard works dry up in recruiting or NIL fall by the wayside I’d brace for impact and count all my 0s.

Depends. If I could continue to bust my arse and out-earn this said “big payout” then no. I see people in my business mail it in every year to get their golden handcuff payout.

Just think, whoever signs Kiffin could get pressured into giving his kid a NIL deal, then endure 4 years of him sucking as the starting QB or pay dad the big buyout, possibly.
