If they fired Miles, there are enough good coaches that would keep LSU winning. They weren't the same after firing McClendon and didn't really get back until Saban. So, it wouldn't even be the worst firing at LSU much less ever.

Disclaimer - firing Les would be stupid, though.

Getting aranda was huge for my outlook on LSUs season. Huge upgrade over Steele.

So how mad are you going to be when Les and LSU has a ton of success this year?

Let me guess what you'll say - "with all that talent anybody can win games"

We are speaking of Miles' past (both recent and distant)...if Miles changes his ways by abandoning his antiquated offensive mindset and keeping a foot on the competition's neck for 60 minutes, I will be the first to state the new reality and give him the praise he deserves for doing so. Until then, there is no reason to believe things have or will change.

If you would actually watch LSU games week in and week out you would understand

I can understand what it looks like from the outside looking in but it is infuriating to watch our offense. And if you are wondering it is the constant meddling from Miles that has looked to be the main reason for this through a number of different OC's. I also do not trust Alleva to hire an HC so I just hope that Les allows his coaches do their job.

I agree, but the jury is still out as to whether Aranda will be able to get everyone on the same page in the short term. My fear is that the defense may struggle for a time and the offense will not be able to cover the shortcoming due to historic Miles/Cameron offensive game planning.

I can't think of any worse firing that's ever occurred.

Ohio State fired John Cooper after a 6-6 and then 8-4 season and replaced him with an FCS coach. John Cooper the four years prior 95-98 (11-2, 11-1, 10-3, 11-1) 2 Big 10 championships, one Rose Bowl win, one Sugar Bowl win, one Sugar Bowl loss and one citrus bowl loss. He also went 10-1-1 in 93 and won the Big 10 championship. His 6-6 and 8-4 seasons aren't far off of Miles 8-5, 8-3 season the last two years.

Tressel then made the AD a smart man in only his 2nd season by going undefeated and winning a national championship.

You don't want this turning into another Mack Brown or Bobby Bowden type of deal. Texas was still getting top talent but hit a plateau of 8-5 and 9-4 seasons over his last four years. Bowden cruise controlled from 2001 til he was forced to retire. You cut the cancer before it does even more harm.

Even without Miles this year Jimbo would have definitely still pulled in a top 5 class and then it speaks volumes about where LSU is headed in terms of QB play. With top talent at WR, RB, and secondary already on the roster he could have hit the ground running. Obviously, I wouldn't expect a championship year one, but I'd feel more comfortable about LSU's future. Let's not act like he doesn't do anything as he beat the same Auburn team that Alabama lost to for the title, and destroyed a Florida team that LSU almost lost to this year. People give him flack for the Houston loss but Houston was way better than people give them credit for. The GT loss was bad no doubt, but it's only one questionable loss in the past four years.

Honestly, Miles made some killer moves in the offseason and if he loosens his leash on running the offense LSU will be a dangerous team going forward. I still believe he should have fired Cam Cameron, but we'll see how he does in 2016.

It all depends on who replaces him.

If LSU gets Jimbo, it's a failure.

But if they can land a middle of the road Big10 coach who can tank for a few seasons, lowering expectations, and hyping the fan base with a loud mouth attitude, I would consider it a very prudent move.

Quite simple answer, Saban changed his ground and pound 1970's offense and competes/win mutiple championships....why can't Miles change??

Bill Battle was fired at ut with a 59-22-2 record from '70-'76. Couldn't beat Bama so he was gone . Nevermind that no one else was beating them either. Bama lost but 14 games in those 7 years.

I don't see a problem with it. He is underachieving.

I actually want LSU to fire Miles. In the extreme off chance LSU could get Jimbo Fisher, that would be good for UF's recruiting. Even more importantly it would make it easier for UF to win its biggest rivalry game vs the Noles.

In the 99% chance LSU didn't get Fisher it would make it easier for UF to beat LSU every year.

I just think it's dumb on LSU's part.

I seriously doubt LSU would get Jimbo.

Yeah the worst CFB coach firing ever. This is why he did not get fired last year. People like this and people in the media who do not watch LSU games week in and week out who think they know what is best for the program.
