Would “LSU-UF rivalry > LSU-Bama” be a controversial take?

Alabama-LSU seems to be damn near the pinnacle of hype every season, but I think there has been some very good games in the LSU-UF rivalry as well, at least the past 10 years.

I feel like if LSU-UF was held in late November, it would possibly be up there with LSU-Bama in terms of hype.

What do you think?

The biggest difference is one is intradivisional and the other isn't

LSU/Alabama is huge in November because it generally has a massive bearing on who wins the West

There would have been an argument here pre-Saban at Bama. Not today with them winning titles and UF not being as good since Meyer left.

The difference is the divisions. Otherwise, maybe.

I think LSU/UF has been a better "rivalry" because it hasnt been as one sided as LSU/Bama as of late.

It’s complicated.

Florida dominated us in the 90’s. Bama dominated us from 2011-2018 (and before my time), so we are less than fond of both of your respective programs.

Bama represents the single biggest obstacle for LSU to overcome in order to play for a championship in a given year.

The LSU-UF series has been very competitive the last 20 years or so. Add to the the fact that Foley is a prick and Alleva is an incompetent buffoon (the hurricane fiasco), and that series is as heated as any.

Both are great rivalries IMO. Playing UF every year is one thing I like about the current division structures and permanent opponents. It’s much harder for LSU to get to the playoffs having to go through Florida every year, but the competitive games make for better entertainment.

I hope LSU can have similar success against Bama in the next decade or so.

No it absolutely is.

Florida and LSU has been the best game overall for 20 years in terms of yearly games. Hands down.

Look how many one possession games there have been. It's back and forth. Almost dead even in points scored, wins, everything. Let's not even get started with the crazy endings and trick plays(like the Jump pass).

Then add in the trolling. From the bands trolling, to the DBU trolls, Twitter trolls. Even the athletic department heads troll each other.

Florida vs LSU is the best overall game since 2000. Followed by Oklahoma Texas and Auburn Bama.

Its a good game every year but that doesnt make it a rivalry.
I harbor no ill feelings towards LSU, Im actually hoping they win Monday.
I would never pull for UGA/Tenn

No, even though our coaches should be caned for losing to UF, it doesn’t really matter to our conference championship and playoff chances.

Les Miles would probably vote for LSU/Bama.

LSU Florida is by far the best middle of the season big game. My favorite.
