I would only want Les Miles running my program if there was a guarantee that he had two great coordinators who had no aspirations for head coaching jobs and would stay there with him for years and years. He is only as good as his coordinators.
So I guess you missed the part where Miles beat Saban with one of the worst OC's in CFB.
CLM, love him or leave him, has balls of steel. His gambles this year got LSU two wins they would have lost otherwise.

He is not the "norm" as Coaches go. He's a bit eccentric and not nearly as calculated as most. His clock management SUX, but he provides GREAT enthusiasm to the players by being a bit risky and Coaching outside of the box !!
His "skills" could use some refining here and there, but overall he's a great motivator and gets his players to give it 100% most of the time. All that coupled with his his endless supply of 4 leaf clovers....he's "got it going on at LSU"

No, unless Nut were still here. I'd take him over Nut and Chizik but not Mullen, Saban or Petrino.
I'd take him over all the East coaches.
I'd take him over all the East coaches.

I think he is a good coach and I like him. I think he could be at UF or UT or UGA and produce the same results as LSU (very good).
I am not sure he would have what it takes to win at AU though. He has a lot of built in advantages at LSU. I am not sure he could hold his own in the same state as Saban. Chizik can.
I would not trade Chizik for any coach in the SEC. I think the only coach as good as Chizik right now is Saban.

Yet isn't that the big problem with CLM is that he IS a gambler which also guarantees that he'll LOSE a minimum of two games a year in the SEC? I mean, if Dooley was not the single most unlucky man on the planet would there not have been riots in the streets in Baton Rouge after the UT game this year?
Ah well, seems the LSU faithful have found a way to live with Two Loss Les so if they want to keep him I'm happy for him to stay there. I mean, it is within the realm of probability that they could win another SEC and National Championship with two SEC losses. Not a high probability but it could happen again.

To be honest, if I could pick between Les Miles and Will Muschamp right now, all things being equal, I would go for Miles. I think he is a great coach. He is not perfect, but nobody is.

I couldn't justifiably be upset in any way if LM were hired after Petrino left for some reason. He is a proven winner at the highest level, enough said.

I would not trade Chizik for any coach in the SEC.

Only Saban and Spurrier have proven to be better than Miles. Look at the Ships.

I'm afraid he may go to Michigan. Who will LSU get--I don't know? But thoughts of this image keeps popping in my mind:

In Les' third year at LSU, he wins a NC. His worst season was in 2008 (8 wins). I know Les has made some mistakes but his record at LSU speaks well for him. We're happy with Petrino but if we didn't have Petrino, I would approve of Les. He's a good dude.

My point exactly. Some people wish he would leave, but they don't appreciate what they have until he is gone.

Les is bye far the best coach that LSU has ever had.
worst season 8 wins, 1 natl title, 1 sec title, 2 west titles, 2 bcs wins, 5-1 bowl record, 62 wins in 6 season
to only 17 losses
winning % of .78
all of this without any major violations and for the most part a squeeky clean program
his recruiting classes are as following per espn
2006-8th overall
2007-6th overall
2008-11th overall
2009-1st overall
2010-8th overall
2011- currently trending 7th
