re: When do the wheels fall off for JFF?
Posted by SeattleTide on 9/1/13 at 2:51 pm
Best thing that could happen to JFF is if Sumlin sat him on the bench for Sam Houston.
It would send a very clear message that he isn't bigger than the program and would give the backup much needed reps against what should be an easy win. I'd go so far as say bench him for a series or two against us to ensure the message sticks.
No, I don't think it will happen but I honestly think that's what both JFF and A&M needs right now.

Remember remember the 5th of November,
Alabama, LSU, for a shot,
I see no reason to doubt,
The SEC, again, finish on top.
Guy Fawkes ain't got nothing on SEC Football. See y'all in Tuscaloosa!

Wrong. The FLA game is make or break, this one is not. The hot seat has cooled a little since game 2.
I disagree. Deep down I think every single UGA fan expects to beat UT next week whether it's realistic or not. If UGA loses they lose all their momentum, all confidence in Richt will be gone and the cries for his head will go into full effect.
re: Huge game for Dooley
Posted by SeattleTide on 10/2/11 at 7:04 pm
I would agree that this is a very important game for Dooley and UT as well as Richt and Georgia in that it's a milestone game for both. UGA is coming in with momentum, giving all the appearance that it has regrouped and now has the ability to control its' destiny in the East. On the other side, UT needs a big statement win to demonstrate the program has finally turned the corner and is headed in the right direction. In my opinion, if UGA loses Richt is gone and the program will be in full rebuilding mode while Dooley will have shaken off the "unproven" moniker, excite the fan base and generate a tremendous amount of momentum to push through the rest of the season. On the flip side, if UGA wins, Richt has a clear shot to the SECCG and takes his head off the chopping block while Dooley's job gets ten times harder both on and off the field.
I think it's a huge game for both in my opinion.

I am glad to see someone post this, every time someone calls out Miles on something he hasn't done he then proceeds to accomplish exactly that. Will he? Who knows, but last year it was "He will never beat Saban and Urban in the same year".... done. Then before that, no LSU coach had beaten UF/Bama/AU (pretty sure thats the 3) in the same year.... done... next?
Good point. There is a good chance he will, you know Les Miles has NEVER had a losing season at LSU!

For LSU to make the BCSNG next year Les Miles is more than likely going to have to do something he's never done at LSU before and that is finish a season with less than two losses.

re: Cam Newton to Enter the NFL Draft
Posted by SeattleTide on 1/13/11 at 8:36 pm
I have no doubt the SeaChickens will be silly enough to waste a first round pick on him ensuring several additional years of mediocrity.
Then again, whomever has kidnapped Hasselback and is now wearing his uniform might just come back next year so maybe not!

re: if cam returns, how many does AU win?
Posted by SeattleTide on 1/13/11 at 3:22 pm
Even if Cam Newton comes back IMO you'll be lucky to make a New Years bowl game next year. The schedule is absolutely brutal with almost every team in the SEC West improving while you must replace your entire offensive line and a defense losing key players the first of which includes Nick Fairley.
Enjoy this year and sincerely hope P4P doesn't turn into anything big as next year will be a rough one for AU.

re: Bama fans...convince me you should be ahead of LSU
Posted by SeattleTide on 1/12/11 at 2:58 pm
Let's see how the recruiting classes finish and spring practice goes as, right now, there is no convincing anyone till the fall and the teams come together.
I'll simply say Bama because I'm biased and Les Miles just signed a seven year extension which pretty much guarantees that ALL his luck will abandon him and LSU will call for his head after a horrible season.

Interesting SEC National Title Statistic

Interesting tid-bit:

As Dennis Dodd pointed out Monday night, the SEC has now won five national titles in a row with four teams winning championships, which is as many as the Big Ten has had in its entire existence.

Wow.... I thought maybe the board would man up... aside from a few classy posters here I don't think theres any men here. Only a bunch of butthurt crybabies. It gives me this warm feeling inside to know this hurts you guys so much. Hey... you can always hope they take it away  Keep holdin out for that moral victory!
Well, I think you're now coming to the realization of the ramifications around all the P4P fallout. Note, I genuinely think Auburn fans are as much the victim in this nonsense as everyone else because you guys simply love your University and its' associated team. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
However, it's not just this board and the people who post on it. Read the following from ESPN:

Key quote:

It was a game of ethical flinches. Watching Cam Newton get a confetti bath did not qualify as the feel-good moment of the season for anyone other than title-starved Tigers fans and greedy Southeastern Conference backers, who will keep the crystal football in their neighborhood for an unprecedented fifth straight season. The Auburn quarterback withstood an interception, a lost fumble and a wince-inducing back injury to flash one more winner's smile.
"I don't want nobody to feel sorry for me, because throughout this year didn't nobody feel sorry for Auburn," Newton said, setting a BCS record for double negatives in a single sentence. "We got the last laugh."
Maybe not the very last laugh. The lingering question is whether Auburn has its hardware only on loan. An ongoing NCAA investigation, spurred by findings that Newton's father tried to sell his son's quarterbacking services to Mississippi State, could one day result in the school's first title in 53 years being vacated.
Like it or not, the way this was handled and managed by the SEC and NCAA, this stigma is going to follow this title until there is some final resolution which, given the NCAA, could be years out in the future. Just don't be mad at ESPN, folks on the board, etc, direct your ire at the NCAA, Cecil Newton, potentially Bobby Lowder and all the people who have put Auburn in this position in the first place. THOSE are the people Auburn fans need to be pissed off with.

Exactly! No idea why they run right into the meat of the AU defense.

i think the fast paced oregon offense drains auburn's defense and eventually pulls this game out. cam will keep it close and possibly have a chance to win it at the end.
Oregon 38
Auburn 35
This is my prediction as well but I think the last one with the ball wins.

He inherited a much bigger mess than Saban.
He still had the same reg. season debut.
The core difference between the Saban and Dooley, in season two and three Alabama/Saban added Clemson and Virginia Tech to get more marquee nationally televised games. UT dropped UNC. That right there shows the mindset and difference between the two IMO.

the one thing that Saban does that drove me crazy as a fan of my team and I am sure probably drives Bama fans crazy is that he is too damn conservative on offense. I remember when we had Jamarcus and all kinds of great receivers and all Saban wanted to do was run the ball 50 times a game. I hated it then, but after having Crowton air it out with a RS freshmen a few years ago, I understand why.
In my opinion, Saban focuses on a very strong fundamentals approach where he essentially wants to dominate the line of scrimmage and out-athlete you. He definitely wants to stretch the field but with a focus on high percentage plays. To a degree, he's a modern day Bear Bryant as both have very similar approaches to the game.
What DOES drive me crazy is when the kids don't execute or make silly mistakes. Penalties and turn-overs make me start drinking pepto!
