Would Clemson and FSU fight the ACC GOR so hard if they did not have a spot in the P2?

It would make them look foolish if they broke the ACC GOR only to be denied admission to the B1G or SEC. And I highly doubt that they move down to the Big 12.

They must have a guaranteed offer from one of the P2. Look at how no one knew about the SEC stealing Texas and Oklahoma or how people were shocked by USC/UCLA jumping to the B1G. Both leagues have a proven record of secret negotiations without the media hearing about it.

FSU has the B1G banners made already. They are just waiting for the ACC to settle

This is how it should work.

This situation is very unique. Texas & OU didn't challenge the GOR. Neither did USC & UCLA. FSU & Clemson are trying to get out of much longer commitments. Also, the ACC GOR was signed over a decade ago. No complaints for 10 years from either school while they reaped all of the benefits. FSU in particular has been very public, brazen and reckless in this whole ordeal. While I do think they will end up in either the B1G or SEC, if anyone would screw this up, it would be the noles.

I believe Sankey that nothing is in play for SEC right now.

I do think the Big Ten likes the idea of adding a team like FSU and getting into the Florida market but I'm not sure FSU has the academic credibility the Big Ten prides itself on. As far as Clemson, who knows. I think the Big Ten would love to get a North Carolina or Duke for hoops over those two teams.

Even though Sankey played coy with Texas and OU the rumors did persist during that time.

Wondering if that’s as done a deal as folks think. ESPN is scheduled to renegotiate ACC’s GOR next year & that opens a window for them to help SEC nab FSU & Clemson.

In short, yes. This is major litigation and there will be plenty of opportunities to settle somewhere in the middle as it goes along. Their GOR is simply so draconian in nature that they need at least some sort of relief before even considering options.

He said the same thing while discussing CFP expansion with Bowlsby all while negotiating with OU & UT. Savage!

The AAU gave FSU the middle finger when it denied them but took USF. Still, I feel the B1G should enter Florida. I heard FSU was close the last time, so maybe they make it.

Interesting thought on basketball. The sport has the potential to be a money maker but it lacks superstars and I doubt that will ever change.

My brother told me before the story broke. At least that's how I remember it.

No that was the B10 commish negotiating with USC and UCLA after forming that stupid "alliance" with the P12.

FSU starting this because they're mad that they are in a garbage conference with garbage teams and got left out of the CFP selection from a clear bias that they wouldn't be able to compete in the top 4.

Clemson sees the writing on the wall and is crying that their lawyers didn't read the contract well enough and essentially locked them into a long term deal that essentially makes them pull the weight of the conference on their and FSU's shoulders.

I doubt ESPN wants to lose Clemson and FSU football and UNC and Duke basketball. They may be planting rumors about the B1G to make Sankey nervous and for him to add all 4. If the above schools are going to jump to the SEC then that is the time for it to happen during renegotiations.

That was a smooth move. I loved it! The B1G will always eat first.

Ohio State has not beaten Michigan in football for 1571 days.

Don’t you mean the B1G will always eat after the SEC?

The reining national champion is from the B1G and the favorite to win the next one is also in the B1G. The B1G also has a better Television package and a brighter future. Our West Coast additions are better than the SEC's.

If this is going to P2, I just can't imagine the SEC letting FSU, Clemson, Miami, and UNC slip away.

That would put the SEC at 20.

The next 4 would be very interesting.

So yes, I think we go to 24 teams in our league.

I cannot see the SEC taking Miami but I do see them fighting for the other 3. The SEC seems especially interested in UNC.

You already named 4 schools, who else do you believe the SEC adds?
