Didn't MSU lose to Derek Dooley and La Tech at Ruston that year as well? Dooley was one of Tech's worst coaches in recent memory and he leveraged that to a big six SEC job

We didn't have a quarterback either. Lynn Bowden Jr. is pretty good, much better than we had. He had 100 yards on the ground against Georgia and it was a close game until they pulled away.

I don't think I watched a single minute of that game. I remember hearing my dad yell at the TV but that's about it from that night. When he told me the final score I couldn't believe it. Shut out by Southern Miss? Un-freaking-believable.

Brooks doing that is like Holtz following up 1-10,0-11 with two 8-4 and New Years bowl wins

Go back and look at that season. We barely lost to Clemson,LSU,Vanderbilt and a fairly close game with Ole Miss. That team just gave up the last 1/3 of the season.
Surprised 2003 Alabama didn't make the list.

Lost close games to #3 Oklahoma, #15 Tennessee, 9 win Arkansas, 8 win Auburn. Northern Illinois also beat a Top 20 Maryland team that season.

Bad team, but definitely not worst of all time level.

How did 2012 Auburn not get on that?

Oh yeah, we didn't play football that year

The difference in 2012 LSU-Auburn was a safety IIRC. One of many wins from the Miles era that felt almost like losses. Another would be @ Arkansas that same season

Just about every single loss was competitive. We played #1 Oklahoma very close in Tuscaloosa, should have beaten Northern Illinois, Arkansas, and Tennessee. We also came from behind to almost pull off an upset against Auburn in Jordan-Hare before blowing a lead to lose against Hawaii to finish off the season. 2003 Alabama was most certainly not a good team, but we could have just as easily finished 7-6 or 8-5 had the ball dropped our way in a few of those games. There were only three games that year where we never stood a chance and those were Georgia, Ole Miss, and LSU.

2003 Alabama is missing. Team was a blistering 3-9 that year. Or was it 4-9?
