I meant to direct that at the AU fans saying he definitely didn't score. I agree with you

yeah my bad. I got confused too. Luckily I edited my butt hurt.

It looks like the ball is close at the end, but I can't tell for certain.

That's the worst call I remember. Corey Webster push-off if we're talking SEC games in my lifetime.

No dount he was down. He was even quoted after the game that he didn't get in but got the call. As I recall we were the last unbeaten in the SEC at that time so we got some Bama treatment against a struggling LSU team.

Any MSU fan that says that Rod Gibson scored is full of it. I don't think that game was televised so no public video exists or it would be simple to prove.

1972 – Jones to Davis - "The Night The Clock Stopped" – No. 6 LSU survived an upset bid from unranked Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium by winning the game on a TD pass from QB Bert Jones to RB Brad Davis. Ole Miss fans say the 1972 contest featured a few seconds of free football. The Tigers trailed the Rebels 16–10 with four seconds to play. After a lengthy incompletion by Jones, the game clock still showed one second remaining. The Tigers used the precious second to win the game on the "last play," 17–16. A song was written to commemorate the game, called "One Second Blues", (track #11) which is featured on the CD "Hey Fightin' Tigers". The alleged home-clock advantage inspired a sign at the Louisiana state line (as you left Mississippi) reading, "You are now entering Louisiana. Set your clocks back four seconds." For that year, the Ole Miss yearbook reported the score for the game as "Ole Miss 16, LSU 10 + 7 ".

Seems like we had a basketball game a few years ago where there was one second left on the clock, and we managed to throw it in, dribble once or twice, and then make a last second shot all in that last second. Everybody complained but it stood.

Auburn's "first down" after going for it on 4th and 2 against MSU.

With the picture you posted, the first down length is not at the marker post. It's where the chain hooks to the loop on the post. Therefore, first down.

The Pig Howard fumble last year always looked closer to me than it was made out.

Not so. The line to gain markers are measured to be 10 yards from the inside of the posts....not where it "hooks to the loop on the post".
See Rule 1-2-7a
quote:

The yardage chain shall join two rods not fewer than 5 feet high, the rods’ inside edges being exactly 10 yards apart when the chain is fully extended.

However, the picture that was posted is from an angle. The "gap" would disappear if the camera was parallel to the front line to gain post.

It was a 1st down....people were just looking for a reason to pretend it wasn't.

On that same note, I didn't I think north made that catch going out of bounds in the endzone. But that's a fraction of a second play, and almost impossible to call accurately anyway

I honestly can't think of one offhand.

I'm sure there ARE some, and I'm sure my memory will get jogged when I see one, but you don't typically remember the ones that go in your favor like you do the bad ones.

And as to the murray one from last year, that in no way would be "the worst ref call" in our team's favor. There is no 100%, irrefutable evidence that it either was or wasn't a TD. You can make a reasonable case for either side. So that doesn't count.

The TV announcers couldn't believe it either. The sideline guy showed where at least one foot was clearly in. I thought he got both in.

This is the worst one in Auburn's favor I can remember. I can't imagine how the ref missed this; he was standing right there.

one atom of that football has to cross one atom of the goal line. It's fricking close. Aubies are just so used to getting the calls every time that they melted over this and still can't stop.

Any of you Aggies remember the Hogs v Ags game in 1989 in College Station? It's the only time I remember the Hogs getting a call in the state of texas. We got the benefit of a pass interference call that helped us preserve our lead and win the league.
