Ross Bjork: Oversaw the Hugh Freeze scandal, got Ole Miss sued by claiming most of the allegations were under Nutt, hired Matt Luke rather than conduct a real coaching search. Somehow gets hired away to A&M where he hands out one of the worst coaching contracts in history and each sport generally get worse, only to somehow get hired away by Ohio State. So far, he hasn't managed to frick that one up but it's so early.

Alleva was such an incredible mix of great and horrific ideas. His biggest problem is that no one in the room respected him.

Well I’ve seen some Ole Miss fans suggest Stricklin would be a huge reason the Kiffin’s don’t go to Florida. I’m assuming it goes back to Chris’ Hugh Freeze days and state narcing on Ole Miss.

As far as lane my body is ready for all scenarios, just tired now

I think Alleva was caught between what the fans wanted him to do and what the administration wanted him to do.

Bockrath is in this? So, who’s 2nd place?

Apparently Ray Tanner.

Bob Bockrath was so bad he got fired by the university in his third season. It is hard to get fired as an AD, especially in that short amount of time.

That is another way to evaluate ADs, were they fired and how quickly did it happen?

Bob Bockrath was fired by Alabama in year three. Woodward was fired by LSU in year six.

Even the other guys that everyone agrees were bad were allowed to stick around forever.

You stopped short on the list of Woodward's accomplishments. He hired a great baseball and Women's BB coach that have won national championships. Hiring Kelly isnt the worst thing in the world. 10 win seasons and a Heisman.

How is this the worst AD in the last 3 decades?

The one reason he was able to stay as long as he did, despite all of his shortcomings, was because nobody wanted to “ruin” his legacy.

So instead of cutting his time short to let him salvage some of it, they allowed him to ruin it all by himself, while smiling in his face and patting him on the back and telling him what a wonderful job he was doing.

I agree with you, which is why I gave Woodward the “most overrated” title

Woodward had a large reputation with his FIL being Mark Emmert, getting Chris Peterson to Washington, and making the first big splash hire the Aggies have had in many years.

Woodward has made some really nice non revenue hires at LSU but football and basketball were atrocious, the two that matter most.

Tom Stanton at Baylor. Set the football and basketball programs back 10 years with his hires and made an arse of himself in general

During his Sept. 4 "Spirit Rally" for the Baylor and Waco communities, Dr. Bill Cosby was presented with an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr. Read the citation below:

Baylor athletic director Tom Stanton fired football coach Kevin Steele on Sunday afternoon, then returned a half-hour later to ask him to coach the last three games of the season. We'll get to Stanton's skills of persuasion another time, but Steele had all but decided to walk out the door and go home.

August 9, 2003.

DALLAS -- The Baylor University athletic director who resigned earlier this month amid an investigation stemming from the death of a basketball player will not remain on the job until his replacement is hired.

Stanton said the strain of the investigation into Patrick Dennehy's death, NCAA violations within the men's basketball program and coach Dave Bliss' attempted coverup of those violations pushed him to step down now.

Last week, Bliss admitted that he tried to get players and an assistant coach to portray Dennehy as a drug dealer in attempt to steer investigators away from the payments and his knowledge of Dennehy reporting threats from another player, not Dotson, before he disappeared.

Stanton and Bliss resigned the same day when Baylor President Robert Sloan Jr., announced the school had uncovered improper tuition payments from the coach to players. Sloan has said Stanton apparently didn't know about the payments, but resigned because they happened on his watch.

Bliss's coverup attempt was revealed Friday night when assistant coach Abar Rouse gave the Fort Worth Star-Telegram a copy of his secretly recorded conversations with Bliss before meeting with NCAA and Baylor investigators.

Which led to

quote:

Baylor self-imposed punishments, which the NCAA augmented to include extended probation for the school through 2010, the elimination of one year of non-conference play, and a ten-year show-cause penalty on resigned head coach Dave Bliss. The sanctions so crippled the basketball program that they didn't have another winning season until 2008. It is one of the harshest penalties ever imposed on a Division I program that didn't include the NCAA's "death penalty".
