Without a doubt, 2023 is Coach Saban’s best coaching job

I saw a clip from On3 that Bama’s returning offensive production for 2023 ranked 125th, out of 133 teams. Pretty amazing.

So I found this preseason article from Athlon breaking down the SEC. Bama had 9 starters returning, four on offense, five on defense. Only Arkansas had fewer returning starters with 8.

Offensively, Bama had 43% production returning. 38% on defense. The next lowest percentages in the conference belonged to UGA (52% on offense) and MSU (43% on defense).

For shits and giggles, LSU returned 13 starters from their 2022 division winning team, returned 81% offensive and 60% defensive production, and had the Heisman winning QB. And they lost three games.

tDecline is real.

He does really well with slightly flawed teams. I will always say the Bear is the GOAT, but he is second

Would you feel differently if Auburn had caught that punt or knocked that pass down?

"Coaching" is often given too much credit in good times and blamed too much in bad situations, by the average fan.

Lol at the poor-mouthing. Since 2020, Bama has had the #1 recruiting class twice and the #2 class twice. Literally the best in the country over the 4 year stretch. No one gives a crap about "returning production."

Bama has the most talented roster ever by recruiting rankings, the Tide needed a miracle against Auburn, struggled in other games, and was lucky to make the playoffs over undefeated Florida State.

Right it’s silly to think that bama is somehow disadvantaged when they haven’t been outside the top 10 in recruiting in like 15 years

Cole Cubelic thought Bama had the best OL in the nation in August.

So you weren’t one of those that said that Bama was done after the Texas loss and the USF debacle?

Don’t lie.

Nick can thank Sark for that…..Horns showed him their weaknesses…he made significant changes, coached up his players…that’s the sign of a great coach…

I keep reading this but I disagree. It’s a roster full of #1 classes just like any other Saban team the last 12 years or so. Failure to develop that talent as well as in the past doesn’t suddenly make this a better coaching job. We still don’t have a NFL caliber receiver, the OL learned to block for the first time against UGA, and Milroe was grossly mismanaged the first half of the season.

I think Saban was actually under-appreciated back when he had so much well developed talent that we were mauling teams, as if anyone could win with those players. And now he is being given too much credit with a team people are treating as if they are a scrappy group of 3 stars that got coached up.

This.

The insecure bama fans need your support and affection though

Yep, the OP is way off base. You have a much better grasp of the situation. He will never acknowledge that, though.

As soon as I read this I knew it was going to trigger the usual suspects.

Then I read the replies and confirmed that thought.

If LSU wins their bowl game this year they will finally have less than 4 losses in a season for the first time since 2019.

They better win their bowl game this year.

Because with no Daniels, Neighbors, or Thomas; and House coming back; next year will be a challenge.
