Yeah, that’s what’s been kind of lost in all this. I think it was partially a response by AD Cohen to multiple instances of NCAA BS.

The other being all the NIL rules that are written in specific ways but are apparently not enforceable. He really stuck his neck out to be compliant, and basically got screwed over for the effort.

If the NCAA wants to self immolate, all AU did was throw the match

which is so on brand for auburn. Since they aren't in the same stratosphere of a program, and have as much success against us the last few decades as vanderbilt, they're reduced to things like this. I remember in 2019 or 2021, roughly a decade after 2010, when they were inducting fairley into some kind of auburn society whatever. Of course they picked the UGA game to do it so they could replay all of his egregious personal foul penalties he committed against us, which the fans ate up with a spoon.

This year auburn plays bama at home, and we all know the camback was one of the most notable games cam is known for and would have been an absolute perfect opportunity for this. Or homecoming, for that matter. But nope, they have to try to take any teeny, weeny, slight chance they get to try to be better than UGA at something football related.

Honestly it's a bit sad, although entirely predictable.

Claim away.
And being investigative, 6 of the 9 are pretty legit. At least we're not claiming one where we finished 20th in the final AP poll.

Lots of schools claim national championships going back to when college football first started in 1869. Have you seen all the ones Michigan claims?

They know its a night game and its a big game. Good grief. Go suck your own cock some more.

They are honoring Bo Jackson's 40th Anniversary of his Heisman at the Iron Bowl.

It ain't all about you dog.

Yeah but it’s dumb to claim them this long after. Pretty sure Michigan has claimed those for years. If Auburn had started claiming them in the 1950s or 60s it woulda made sense but it’s been over 100 years now

4 of their new claims aren't even listed in the records book.

We aren't worried about Texas. Oklahoma could actually win some conferences.

Who is ruining what? I'm confused.

Its either ok or not ok. Why in the world does the timeline matter? So because it was claimed in the 50's rather than the 2020's, its good to go, no matter the rationale behind said claiming? That is an idiotic take. Good job.

We are following new NCAA guidelines. Some of these Auburn has claimed internally for years.

Our AD explains that. We share a state with a program that inflated their NC claims grossly back in the 1980's. We always took a very humble approach to that. No more. It's not completely outlandish. The combined record of those 9 teams is 90-2-2.

A really strong and full throated defense of AU’s position.

Anyone who thinks Auburn would be doing this if they hadn’t sucked so bad for a decade now is insane.

claimed, or "recognized"?

UGA has 3 other years that we "recognize" in the media guide as being selected national champion by some outlet or another. That's a far cry from hanging a banner and officially declaring it though.

Dude, really? Alabama's been doing this shite for decades and decades. You gonna call us out for it? Michigan claims 22 National Championships. Many of them before 1900.

Then hang them. And when you do Auburn will still have more than UGA.

Right, and they suck for it and many people laugh at them for it. Many of the claims are dubious.

As you said though, that's what they've always done so even though we can make fun of them for their claims of several dozen titles, one thing you can't say is that they just decided on a whim to start doing it.

That's why people are laughing at auburn today, because you somehow all of a sudden just now decided to not be "we're better than those other guys and don' stoop to that level" and instead decidde "eeeeh nevermind yeah will lmao"

So, your official media guide that is produced by your athletic department claims them but you are arguing that isn't an official declaration?

For the sake of discussion, this has been something that has been in discussion for over a decade now. Right or wrong to do, this isn't an off the cuff action.
