I know I’m gonna catch a lot of dead aimed lead for this. However for the non trolls maybe you’ll find this interesting.
If you wanted to study petroleum engineering you cannot do much better than LSU. Consistently one of the top 15 schools in the country for this specific field. Also highly ranked in agricultural, civil, and mechanical engineering.
LSU is actually a university and agricultural and mechanical (A&M) school. We were also a military school a long arse time ago. Look up Ole War Skule. It’s actually pretty interesting if you’re into old military stuff.
I get it that a lot of people clown us for our overall rank but in specific engineering fields we are highly renown.
(For the Trolls)……….STTDB

Is that why the entire 85 mile stretch between baton Rouge and New Orleans is commonly referred to as cancer alley?

I deal with quite a few oil &gas businesses with owners, managers, engineers from LSU.
Top notch people in personality, skills, and knowledge. A lot of people have no idea but much of the offshore real time pressure testing software and monitoring is done by a Brazilian owned software company. Guess who they work with almost exclusively… LSU.

You definitely could as there are only 18 ABET accredited Petroleum Engineering programs in the country.

What about Children's Hospital rankings?

Specific fields matter. LSU had great job placement in Big 4 audit roles.
I had friends that went to LSU and I recall there was a professor in the business school who taught internal audit, Dr. Sumners. He has a great program for Big 4 audit recruiting.

I'm an LSU Alumnus and could totally care less about LSU's Academic Ranking.

That’s too bad. You should, especially if your children or grandchildren are going there. I just advised my oldest to go to another university for her chosen course of study. It was not petroleum engineering. As with all major universities some departments are much better than others.

Not trolling but actually in the SEC you can do much better than LSU's Petroleum Engineering program. OU, UTerus and aTm can easily (and actually surpass) LSU's program. In fact all 3 are in the Top 6 in the United States. Colorado School of Mines ranks up there and another fellow Sooner State program ranks up there too in The University of Tulsa.
#1 University of Texas (SEC)
#2 Texas A&M (SEC)
#3 Colorado School of Mines
#4 (tie) University of Tulsa and Pennsylvania State University
#6 University of Oklahoma (SEC)
#7 Stanford University
#8 (tie) Texas Tech University & University of Houston
#10 Louisiana State University (SEC) (Respectable)
LSU is respectable, but respectfully, you're 4th in the SEC.

People get way to into rankings of different schools. LSU alumni and have worked along side Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn, Bama, Texas alumns in the Engineering space. Not much difference.
