Maybe. Haven’t seen who is behind him yet.

So from all the yes answers one has to infer that Jimbo is an idiot because he played the wrong qb last year. Kinda dumb to play mond all year when the tram will be better without him.

Mond was a senior. King was a true fish without the benefit of spring camp due to COVID. The question is will we be better without Mond.

Yes, next year.

Not in the short term.
Burrow, Tua, and this defense-light season has screwed with fans’ perception of what level of QB is actually needed to win a national championship or have a NY6 bowl season.

Mond’s experience will be missed and will result in a loss or two next season. Their next QB can be great, but it’s just not historically likely that he shines in his first starting season.

Except for Jameis, Jimbo has not been able to develop a QB.

If you can't see how much Mond improved from his freshman year to his senior year you are straight up stupid when it comes to football. Never mind that he also got EJ Manuel drafted in the first round.

The A&M fans on this board are dumber than even most of the LSU fans.

Mond was a senior that held it together and won every game except Alabama.

In their braindead minds, he, along with being screwed by the committee, was one of the reasons they were denied the championship they think they deserved.

Was he a top QB? Not close, but if he were benched this season A&M would have 3, maybe 4 losses and no banner to hang.

There are only a couple of dolts who think King would have been better as a true freshman than Mond as a senior. Nobody with a half a brain would have made him the starter.

However, many of us do think that he has the potential to be much better overall once he gets his feet wet.

Exactly, RS Fish King will be better than Mond by the end of the year. But, as I stated before there will be hiccups at the start of the season. Good thing we don't play any teams that are remotely decent until at least Arkansas ...

Well unfortunately they all seem to flock to this website.

I’m not arguing against this. I’m just pointing out the likelihood of immediate production next season is not historically high.

I guess I just find this question a little nonsensical. Texas A&M will likely miss Mond to some degree next season, but he’s a senior QB and that’s usually how it goes. That doesn’t mean their next QB will not be better - it’s just how experience works. Burrow wasn’t LSU’s savior his first year as a transfer either.

Aside from the JFF years the backup QB has always been the most popular player on the team. Our fans always think the backup would do better than the starter and our coach is an idiot and is playing the wrong guy.

Thats not even limited to QB either. Every time a player makes a mistake, people start questioning why so and so 3rd string isn't playing.

I think this is a function of having terrible coaches for 20 years. We don't trust our coaches to determine who should play.

The poster is a LSU fan. It is obvious that both classes should be considered in the correct answer.

Higher ceiling/lower floor kind of deal as with replacing any game manager type.

It doesn't have much to do with Mond, but they will be at least 2 games worse due to normal occurrences and other teams being not as terrible as this year.

I expect the defense to be better. Specifically, the pass rush and secondary play both should be better. Offensively I see Haynes King being willing to throw deep more often than Mond ever would. Mond seemed to avoid the middle of the field even when he threw downfield. I expect more interceptions and more touchdowns. Will be more exciting than this years offense.

Like LSU? Good luck with that. Have you even hired a new DC yet, or found somebody that actually wants the job?

So you are saying that without a doubt, 1 or 2 losses next season? I bet you wouldn't put any money on that.
