A&M opens at UCLA in '17. And then gets Nicholls State at home the next week.

You guys are playing at UCLA I presume?
You will have to forgive me but it has been hard to figure out your schedule lately.
Did you guys finally work out a home/home with Arkansas?
Still don't know if those are actually "home site" games.

It's also the depth of quality games that first weekend that can hold ones attention:
South Carolina @ Vandy
Mizzou @ West Virginia
KSU @ Stanford
BYU @ Zona

The Birmingham Bowl was great. Fun times.
We beat #21 Memphis in that game. Memphis beat you (#12 Ole Miss) 37-24 earlier in the season.
We beat them 31-10. There is a difference.

Iowa?
Yes, a program on the AP all-time top 25.
I must've overlooked Mizzou on that list, where were y'all ranked?

Clemson is playing a team that went to the Birmingham Bowl. How is that a great matchup?
You mean a team ranked 13 all-time in NCAA football. Where is Ole Piss ranked all-time? Wow, you made it to a Sugar Bowl finally and won and happened to beat Bama 2 whole years in a row!!! Everybody watch out!!! We got a badass over here!!!

Will become more common. Driven by the SOS factor of the CFP. Helps you if you win. Doesn't kill you if you lose.
I heard Greg McElroy in an interview add another reason for opening with a big name. He said that it really helps up the intensity of fall camp. He used Alabama as an example in saying that when the players show up and the next game is USC, then they immediately get right to work whereas the intensity just isn't the same when you're opening with a directional or FCS foe.

Alabama kicks off next season against Florida State.
You should add that it will be the first game in the new Mercedez Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend. Tennessee will be playing Georgia Tech there two days later (on Labor Day).

The push for stronger OOC SOS for playoff inclusion is going to push the scheduling quality up. Thankfully.
