Will Pruitt do a better job than Saban / Smart at stopping Auburn's run game?

This isn't a trolling Alabama thread.
That out of the way, FSU Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt presumably learned defense under Saban and Smart. Is his coaching ability beyond theirs to stop the Auburn rushing attack? I'm thinking no. Does FSU have better athletes than Alabama? I don't know that answer.
Bama fans, what can you tell us about Pruitt?

I love the analytical depth of Jesse Palmer this the best defense Auburn will face. last week it was Mizzou,Alabama,Georgia and so on and so on.

They don't really need to stop Auburn's running game. Bama's red zone offense, Cade Foster's shitty kicking and Saban's horrific coaching decisions cost them the game. A.J. also missed quite a few opportunities. In the drive where Cade Foster missed the FG after a penalty, A.J. had a wide open receiver in the end zone but he held on to the ball too long and wasn't able to complete the pass. Winston's a much better QB than McCarron. He's not going to waste those kind of opportunities when he gets them.

It's more about time to prepare than anything else. Any good defensive coach would be more successful against that offense after drilling the handful of plays over and over and over.

I think they have better corners than us meaning they will be able to allow their safeties to focus more on the run and possibly stop a lot of the big run plays that ate up us and Mizzou.

That's a big part of our defense. We never felt comfortable putting Belue and Jones on an island.

If they can do the following, they will have success:
1. Keep your offense on the field to limit their possessions and shorten the game.
2. Have good corners that can be left in single coverage when needed.
3. On the few occasions that Auburn throws the ball, take advantage of their right tackle who is often beat around the edge and forced to hold.
4. Take advantage of Auburn's secondary.
5. Avoid 3rd and long where Ford does most of his damage in obvious passing situations.
6. Discipline to stay with your assignment on defense is a must.
This is of course easier said than done.
ETA: It would be worth it hit Marshall very hard every time he tries to run. I know this isn't exactly the same, but when Nebraska was running their option offense, hitting the QB hard and often was a recipe for success. It would get in his head and he would be more willing to hand the ball off than run it himself.

This. Our corners were a glaring weakness of this team. Cyrus Jones was out matched physically and out of place on most plays. I'm convinced that more teams could have kept it close and possibly beat us by throwing and running at #5.
Belue was solid, but not Milliner or Kirkpatrick level.
Plus I think that FSU might have a kicker that is worth a damn. I see Cade and I am thankful that he is out of eligibility.

I think you're onto something with this. Not to take anything away from Auburn's players (that line and Mason are damn good), but a lot of the defenses that Auburn faced simply weren't prepared to defend Malzahn's spread-diamond-pistol-where-the-frick-did-the-ball-go offense. I have to think that FSU will look a lot sharper on D and will make reads faster and more accurately.

This does remind me of Nebraska under Osbourne who couldn't win a bowl game to save his life once he switched to the option offense. Teams were able to stop it because they had a lot of time to prepare.
