All of you people saying they "shouldn't get jumped" are basing that on how good of a team they had last year. They haven't done anything this year to be #2 in the country.

I'm not saying they may not be the second-best team in the country (and I know how rankings work), but Oregon absolutely deserves it based off of on-field accomplishments THIS YEAR (read: last night).

Well, they were within 13 points last year when you had a better team (and their team this year is quite probably better than their team last year), so...yeah, they could "stay within 20 points of LSU." Are you stupid?

High flying offenses are shutdown in the SEC.
No I believe it's been proven repeatedly that you are.

We gave them a garbage TD late last year.

Using your logic, do you think Bama has done anything this year to be #1 in the country?

Best win they have is over a pretty poor Michigan team that just scored 6 points vs ND.

At this time of the year expectations have more to do with rankings than records. Midway through the season the pendulum swings.

not impressed by fsu. its not like they beat a legit team because its clemson and they will collapse at some point.

I agree. FSU has played cupcakes and one decent team with no defense. If they make it to the game they will be destroyed by LSU or Bama.

Much more than LSU has done to deserve #2.

Alabama beat Michigan 41-14. Could've been much worse.

Notre Dame beat Michigan by a touchdown at home.

What's your point?

This.

There us a lot of football left and time for LSU to improve.. The D is still suffocating and the run game is still solid

We keep winning and we will get to where we wanna be at the end of the season, enough said

I really could care less about getting jumped, Our schedule allows us to finish the season number 1 if we win out, no questions asked. This is still a team that can win a national championship. I'm honestly very okay with the way Mett is playing, also. He has the talent to have huge games(as long as receivers start catching the ball), but he just hasn't put it all together yet. At least he's not going to get drafted high in the first round and leave for the NFL. He will have all of this season, and off season to come back next year much improved. We will have another great team next year.

Exactly. Before everyone else uses this LSU/AU game as some kind of definitive record of LSU's season - slow the eff down. Does anyone remember the craptastic game Bama played in '09 against UTk? "Rocky Block", ring a bell? This game was probably a blessing in disguise. Les will have the troops' full attention now.
Let's hope we don't stub our toe on the way to Nov 3rd...

My point was directed at the comment he made that LSU hadn't done anything on the field to be ranked #2. I agree. I also think Bama hasn't done anything on the field yet to warrant a #1 ranking. The same can be said for most teams in top 10.

IMO, rankings at this time of year are based on expecations. I think Bama is the best team.

My point was that to say LSU hasn't done anything on the field to validate their #2 ranking could be said about most teams at this time of year.

If if were Florida that played Bama's schedule and won by the exact same margins with identical stats... do you think they would be #1 right now? NO. Pretty much proves my point about expectations and the role they play EARLY in the season for rankings. Later on, on field results overtake expectations.

Why should Lsu not be jumped? Fsu and Oregon now have the better resume, with similar records.

Wow...

Oregon MAYBE, but FSU? FSU's damn top 5 defense got EXPOSED last night.

LSU, IF they drop, only drop one spot to 3 IMO.

Yes they should (hope we do).

In the long run it really does not matter. You guys should know better than anyone that one poor performance by a team in a regular season game does not define a team as a whole or predict the finality of the season...

That worked out pretty well for Bama last year....
