Will Kirby go the way of Dabo?

Kirby has won 2 natty’s like good Ole Dabo and had a great run so far… But
Kirby currently has the #15 recruiting class with already 23 commits. He hasn’t used the portal much prior.
Georgia’s 5 star QB of the future is currently visiting Michigan , but Kirby just offered Luke Bryan’s son (3 star QB) in his place. Lack of QB talent in this era will continually get UGA booted from winning the NC again.
Watching Kirby’s post game PC and he sounds like good ole Dabo preaching and whatnot (poor ole Gawja dawgs)
It seems inevitable with the way Kirby operates that he will be left behind soon enough. Maybe Kirb-dawg can adjust his style and portal better, or maybe he will spend the extra days at the Lakehouse like Dabo reminiscing on the good o days.

The guy has done a great job. I haven’t seen much reason to doubt his ability. I’d consider moving on from Bobo though, he’s no Monken

Kirby has been a very good HC. He's learned from some of the best minds in the business. He is, however, 1-2 against LSU.
Bobo isn't the answer at OC for him. He needs to go find a guy similar to Monken, whether that is from a pretty good P4 school, or a good G6 school that have had success.

Let's talk about Kiffin's greatest team and how he walked away from his only real achievement.

Leaving one school to go to another where he felt he would have more resources and success?

Dabo hasn’t won shite without great qb talent. Kirby has won without it.

This is a Kirby thread. If I wanted to talk about Lane, I would have clicked on the other 5364828 threads on this site about him

So far, his NIL/portal strategy seems pretty prudent. I do think we’ll become more transfer friendly over time, but so far the priority has been retention, for good reason.

It's amazing how far schools fall when everyone can legally pay players....

In the NIL era I'm not sure if recruiting is as crucial as it used to be though I may be wrong

He will if he doesn’t get better coordinators.

In the NIL Era, recruiting is "Here's a big ole sack of money. Come play for us....:

Agreed. Now even shitty programs like South Carolina can pay 5*s enough to outweigh the development deficit.

Kirby is a very good coach. But once the “Saban way” of getting players was axed, he’s just like every other coach trying to win.
Had NIL started before Kirby left Bama, highly doubt he has a title let alone two.
But you can’t discount what he’s done which is a remarkable feat in itself. Except losing to O in back to back years

I used to be a big proponent of Kirby is Dabo just four years behind but I think Kirby will be fine. He’s got dabos eye for talent and roster management but lacks dabos stubborn conviction and arrogance. He’s still a top 5 coach. Probably top 3 but definitely top 5

This is a big misconception lol like usce and every other program doesnt cheat, nil hasn’t changed the game as much as the portal. The ability to stack and retain depth without a sit out penalty is what’s keeping the usual suspects from dominating.

He is at a place with a much higher floor than Clemson.
Georgia's problem (if you can call it a problem) is that its such a good job that you can have pretty mediocre or only slightly above average coaches do well enough there to keep a job for a long time (Richt). So I don't see them becoming what Clemson has become. But I could see a time where, if not for the expanded playoff, you really wouldn't be talking about them as a championship contender every year like you are now.
I do think their portal strategy has gotten better. But you can already see the depth falling off. Without KJ Bolden you could really see a difference against Auburn... in the past you'd have a guy come in at that spot and he might not play as well as the starter but you'd come away thinking whoever it was is going to be a good player once the starter goes to the NFL.

Yeah
No one is able to stockpile talent like Stetson Bennett and Dan Jackson anymore.
Those were the days.

If we've been cheating, we're not very good at it..
