Rupps a little bit of a different animal than most college basketball arenas as well... same goes for the KFC bucket in Lousville... neither is an on-campus venue. There's no question who's house it is, but it's not like Auburn playing the SEC Championship game in Bryant Denny.

The solution is real simple for Mizzou fans honestly. Don't want Louisville there? Don't depend on your conference brethren to keep them out for you. Show up. Buy tickets. UK fans do it not just for the NCAA Tournament but for the SEC Tournament and at several away games in conference (and OOC too).
The whole "OMG IT'S NOT A REAL RIVALRY CAUSE YOU'RE NOT KEEPING THEM OUT" business is a sad attempt at covering up fans not buying up tickets on their own.

I think it's funny when Louisville plays at Rupp because they're constantly reminded of how much better we are than them. They could win both games but they'd still be playing them under neath out 8 national championship banners.

This is true. All the while both teams are playing in our Arena they will still have to look up and see 8 Championship banners hanging from the rafters.

You guys are answering the OP and I get that. The last 2 or 3 pages though weren't about whether or not UK will support MU. Frick that. Don't want or need the support. The team will do what they do, win or lose. The fans that make the trip will make the trip. I posed the question taking Mizzou out of the equation but apparently it's still being taken as seeking support.
I take it UK doesn't mind and that's fine. I was just trying to get a better understanding of how UK views UL or anyone else. Think I got that. Thanks.

It shouldn't be a concern. there are still 7k+ tickets available. red bird fans don't appear to be going to the games.

We hate them. They are Lil brother. We take over their own damn city. They hate us and we hate them.

You can't call it hate until you kill several hundred of each other.

Thanks Mike. I was just trying to get a gauge or understanding of the nature of the rivalry. I started a new thread because what I was wondering about was being overshadowed by the title of the thread. Personally, I'd take pride in taking over kU's house but NEVER allowing them to take over our house, no matter who they were playing.

It can still be hate. It's just different degrees. The rivalry with kU just happens to stem from things outside and before sports existed at the universities.

This thread is amazing.
1) It's called a neutral court for a reason. At tourney games, the crowd generally roots for the upset regardless of who the closest team is...Of course there will be tons of Louisville fans there, but there will also be fans of 7 others teams as well. I'm far more worried about the team on the court, than who is cheering off of it.
2) Others might, but no way would I "beg" SEC brethren to cheer for us. We're still outsiders, and most likely will always be outsiders...and that's fine, I'd rather it be that way. The entire "SEC brotherhood" thing is creepy anyway. Yes, this league is all powerful and competition second to none, but it's also full of more douchebag fans than any collection of humans on earth. Lots of fun, but not exactly something to give you hope for the future of mankind.
3) Nothing anybody says here or anywhere else online will ever do the kansas-Missouri rivalry justice. You just have to see it to be a part of it to understand it. Personally, I don't expect anybody else to get it, so saying it's "no big deal" doesn't bother me in the slightest. Not here. Not anywhere.
Just note there aren't too many other rivalries that are based on mass murders, hangings, beheadings, firing squads, burning people alive and raping the opposing team's kin folk in front of their families. The Michigan/Ohio St rivalry was stoked by a land dispute between two factories. Duke and Carolina share DMV offices and countless neighborhoods. Missouri and kansas shot hot lead at each other for 7 years, culminating in the burning of lawrence to the ground, in retaliation to kansas assholes killing 200+ women and children in a jail collapse.
The fact that both schools have traditionally suck far away from the media spotlight simply means that the hatred and anger goes beyond scoreboards or what color shirt you have on.
It's real.
There's no way for you to understand it. You just have to see it for yourself.
PS - UK fans, enjoy your NIT game this week. Hopefully all 2,000 Bob Morris fans will be cheering for you rather than against you.

Here's a question why do Missouri fans spell it ku?
It all started during the Civil War. A group of murdering thugs that called themselves "jayhawkers", crossed over into Missouri and burned the Missouri town of Osceola to the ground. They hung several townspeople and raped the women and young girls. After the Civil War, kansas university was built. That is how the ku mascot became the jayhawks. They are named after a bunch of terrorists.
