When he was actively involved in turning Freeze in for NCAA recruiting violations while he was the AD at Miss St?

That is the correct answer. What do you do as the admin at Auburn when you know you're going to hire a toxic guy like Freeze after you fire Harsin midseason and need to get buy in from enough fans? You hire the AD from the coach's former rival, pay him a lot of money to get on board with hiring Freeze so when you hire the guy you wanted all along, the narrative could be, 'Look, even Cohen thinks Freeze is a changed man."
