You're going to have to pay an outrageous amount of money for:

1. A quitter
2. An average quarterback
3. He'll have just a few months in your system so will probably be less than average, if he's even the starter

Seems dumb on both he and his future team's part.

He was shite for most of the year. Unless he goes down to FCS where he can play Chattanooga every week, I just dont see the appeal. He threw like 150 yards and less than 1 TD a game against real programs

Any player who proves to be 1000% mercenary should be treated as toxic. Mix in the mid results and yeah

In a sane world this is true. Unfortunately college football has gone totally insane, and some coach out there trying to save his job and some university desperate for results and attention will overpay for Nico.

That's just what the game has become. They don't care about loyalty and pride in your institution anymore, it's all about the mighty dollar on both ends of the negotiation.

I’m not team Nico at all, just playing devil’s advocate. The flip side of the “no spring to learn” is that there are several major teams right now who get the benefit of hindsight following spring practice who now know for sure that their QB room isn’t good enough and that improving to a mid range QB starter would be a 2-3 win boost to their team. That is worth a lot of money and very few entrenched SEC level starting QB’s would even listen to an offer to leave this late in the offseason, further increasing the value of anyone disloyal enough to take offers.

It’s the equivalent of a good not great AI engineer asking Meta to double their salary to leave Google. If Meta doesn’t have anyone else who can do it at a basic competence level and their whole operation is suffering because of it, they will pay it.

It’s not smart long term for Nico’s development and NFL future, but it may be smart for the team who steals him if their QB situation following spring practice is bad enough.

This guy needs to get the Kapernick treatment. Send a message to this guy and other players. No one sign him.

The problem is he was average in a quarterback friendly system that he'd been in for two years.

He may could be decent at the G5 level but I doubt any of those programs will pay him more than Tennessee.

It's going to be tough to be any good at the P4 level, with only a few months to learn the system and build chemistry with his new team. And with a kid like this, you can only look at it like a one year rental type of situation.

I mean yeah, your quarterback situation may be bad but there's no indication that this kid can "fix" that.

Someone will end up signing him, but I have serious doubts he'll end up getting more than the $2.4 million that Tennessee agreed to pay him. There's no way in hell he's getting the $4 million he was asking for.

Surely they didn't jump out on this limb without a competing offer in place.

Right?

Yep it would be nuts to even give him that 2.4 million after how he looked against decent teams last season.

This is what I don't understand about the whole thing. They must have been sure we would fold or had something at least comparable to his current deal already waiting elsewhere. Otherwise, they are super dumb.

Why do some LSU fans want to keep BK?
Don't tell me there isn't anyone better than BK being available to replaced him.

Someone will want him but he overplayed his value. Saban has been saying it for years - NIL should be based on performance.

With his play, his value is significantly lower than what his dad sees it as.

You guys are nuts. He’ll have multiple offers. That’s what happens in free agency. The feeding frenzy here is funny. Meanwhile, the player is negotiating deals during spring practice where someone will get injured or under perform.

You're majorly overvaluing this kid.

I’m not over valuing him. Heupel was willing to pay him 2 million 2 days ago. I am willing to pay him $0.

It is just hilarious that 2 days ago he was worth 2 million and now suddenly he’s a bum that no team will want. All I know is someone will pay him because the QB whisperer thought he was worth 2 million on Thursday.

I don’t think he’ll get 4 million but even if he gets $1 more it’s a win. Players of today don’t care about the school. And the NFL won’t care where he played because they draft portal players every year.
