Why was Tuberville fired?

I don't care how Germans this is but I did never understand why TT was fired after just one bad season. Didn't he win 10 games the season before and routinely beat top teams? What was the actual reason he was made to 'resign'?

this is just my opinion....
When Jacobs and Tuberville met in December, the plan wasn't to let CTT go. Jacobs and the PTB wanted a major overhaul of the staff, specifically the offensive position coaches... tuberville didn't want that, so the Athletic Dept. showed him the door.

This makes no sense. Why would TT have a problem in overhauling an offensive staff that he admitted wasn't cutting it. Didn't he fire Franklin half way through the season? This can't be it.

again, this is JMO...
Tuberville over-valued himself following 2008. He didn't think Jacobs or the higher-ups would pull the trigger. You've gotta remember, this core group of assistants had been together for the better part of 13 years, dating back to Ole Miss. He was sticking up for his guys, all the while thinking he had the bargaining power to do so.
Tuberville pretty much was pushed into letting his two original coordinators go -- Levitt and Mazonne. 10 years later, he thought he had way more pull than he actually did.

Yes, especially all those games they lost in 2004. Auburn was a legit progam with TT as head coach and took care of Bama for the better part of this decade. I still don't see what was gained by firing him. And I also don't get how all these AU fans have turned on him so quickly.

2004 was five years ago... we'd been in steady offense and an overall decline since then...

good reason to fire him I think it was way past due and justified.

They sure jumped on Bama after they fired Shula, who was one game above .500 in his time at Bama.

Bama gave him the opportunity to stay if he made serious staff changes (firings). He wouldn't do it. The same happened to Coach Croom at State. Tubs had lost his team at the end of last season. It's tough to come back from that.

Dude did you watch last season at all? Tubbs lost his fire about 5 years ago...he thought he was untouchable because of what he did in 2004...he refused to make legit adjustments to the coaching staff...he would move his good ole boys around so they still had a job...he refused to cut loose the dead weight and bring in a quality staff...he would never let the OC bring have a say in who helped run offense...he cost himself the job...

Lowder was desperate to make a change because he was afraid Saban would leave AU in the dirt, which he has. Lowder knew he could control Chizik. That was before Colonial collapsed, maybe he can't now.

Dude, you are talking out of your arse. Did you go to AU? Do you have any connections at all to the athletic dpt? (As if I have to ask these questions.) STFU.
Truth: BBQ buddy loyalty wasn't exactly it....a large part of it was more that TT REALLY thought his BBQ buddies could get it done. And a large part of it was him essentially saying to Jacobs "frick you. I'm the coach and I'll hire or fire whoever the hell I want." (And I have to say, if I was TT, I would have said the same thing.)
10 years was plenty....nothing lasts forever. Let's move on. Good luck Coach Tubbs wherever you end up......you will turn around another program, there's not doubt.
