No. Jon and his wife have family in Huntsville and Atlanta. He always dreamed of coaching at one of the two Alabama SEC schools. I wouldn't say he wanted to go to Florida over Auburn, I would say he wants to win rather than lose.

Interesting he would go to a less successful program both historically and recently if winning was his primary motivation

Guess you haven’t been paying much attention. Florida has been the better program for the last 35 years.

Florida has fewer than 6 wins exactly 4 times since 1979. Auburn was 1 game away from doing so in the last 4 seasons and has 11 seasons of fewer than 6 wins in that time frame.

Especially since the creation of the SECCG Florida is far and away the better program. More wins, more SEC championships, more national championships.

I don’t think Auburn fans are really very aware of where they are in the food chain these days. At best they’re now the what, 8th best program in the conference?

Sumrall was hired by the Florida football program instead of Auburn, and the Tigers went with South Florida head coach Alex Golesh

Auburn got the better deal.

Don’t bring those trans championships into this.

One thing is for sure Golesh got Durkin and Sumrall got the KY DC his buddy. Which would you want for your DC.

To be fair, Kentucky played some really good defense at times this season.

We got the coach who is the best fit for our program. I have seen the interviews for both Sumrall and Golesh and believe that Auburn made the right hire.

I mean no matter how it happened, I think most SEC teams are happy with their hires. (Well, except maybe Ole Miss).

I absolutely believed we lucked out on our hire. I also think Sumrall is going to do really well at Florida.

I have read about protests at Florida and Arkansas

I think Florida has settled down because Sumrall won the press conference there. He showed a lot of passion and at least seems tonally very different from Napier.

Arkansas feels better because he got some of the local Arkansas talent to stay, something Pittman was not doing. He also seems very fired up, which helps when a fanbase has been demoralized.

Of course, like all of us, this is the time for hope. Reality will kick at least half of us in the nuts by October.

The last time either AU or UF won a natl championship in football was 2010. Counting that season, comparing AU and UF

UF overall record 118-91, 0-4 in SECCG, 0 NCG appearances

AU overall record 120-85, 2-1 in SECCG, 2 NCG appearances and 1 NC

AU definitely needs to step up its game. But AU is not currently looking up at Florida “on the food chain these days”

It is astounding to me to see Auburn fans continue to cover for this clown. He was wrong on Freeze, he was wrong on NIL and he bungled the latest search.

This is called "moving the goal post"

The original claim you said wasn't true:

Ok - and wasn’t Sumrall a DC?

The answer is yes.
