Why should LSU be ranked #1 in the CFP Rankings tonight?

Is it because they LOOK good?
The narrative has been because of their schedule. 3 top 10 wins, 2 of them on the road. This is why they’ll jump Ohio St. to #1.
Clemson is the defending national champion and is undefeated and is ranked #5 in the initial rankings. Why? Because of the fact that they’ve played no one?
Why does this narrative disappear when discussing Alabama and why they “deserve” to be included in the top 4 with their garbage schedule. 25-37 combined opponents record.

Eye test man.
Honestly I don't care. As long as we keep winning.

I prefer to be #2 until the final rankings.

In 2015 we dropped from 3 to 8 after a loss because we had a weak resume.
I'm curious to see how much integrity this committee has tonight.
8-10 sounds about right. 4 is probably where they'll sit.

Don't worry man. After they lose to State or squeak out a win it will be apparent they are an inferior team.

A weak resume and close calls vs Northern Illinois and Indiana, but yeah, Alabama should be behind Penn State, Oregon, and perhaps a few others.

A lot of people love to put emphasis on their loss to Auburn.
Another “scheduling” argument.
Two totally different teams today than they were a couple months back. Who here thinks Auburn would win that game again?

We should be #2. I don’t see why beating the #3 team in a close one should bump us to #1. The expected outcome happened.

Maybe so, but that adds to the RESUME in the committees eyes. Does it not?

I think there are 2 schools of thought here - and both are right?
A.) Eye Test - who would win on a neutral site?
B.) Better resume - which of these teams is the most accomplished?
So for tonight's playoff rankings, there are 4-5 teams that have an argument for the #4 ranking -
In no particular order -
Georgia
Bama
Oregon
Minnesota - Undefeated
Baylor - Undefeated
Utah
If you put 13 smart people in a room to rank these teams, there will be plenty to discuss and disagree about. And neither side is wrong.
A.) Who is the better team? Or who would win on a neutral site? Alabama or Oregon? I think the majority of us would say Alabama.
B.) Who has the better resume or which team is more accomplished? Alabama or Oregon (this season)? I think the majority of us would say Oregon.
And it'll be fluid and could change week to week as teams win and lose.
So please, there are 3 weeks left in the regular season + conference championship games.
Let's try NOT to get our panties in a wad after we see the rankings tonight. It will change next week.

Doesn’t matter if 1-4. It’s the end game that counts. Just keep winning.

Aaah, but when it’s Alabama, this doesn’t matter. Wins do not matter at this point. Why?
If we’re talking eye test ALONE, ya think that defense can stop Ohio St, Clemson?

You don’t have 3 top 10 wins!!
You have wins over #3, #10, and #11 from last weeks poll. Those wins will all drop..
Minn will move above UF and AU, so will Baylor. So at best those wins will be #12 & #13; Bama win will be #5 or #4... also Texas May sneak into the top 25..
Either way you do have the strongest resume... but the AP and Coaches rankings do not matter at all.
I think OSU is the better team. No other reason. They look like the most complete team... the will have wins over probably a top 15 team in Wisky, a top 20 in Cincy, and a top 25 maybe in Indiana.
Imo OSU and LSU are the top 2 in any order you want... but there is a clear separation between them and number 3 Clemson.

The argument I keep hearing from Bama fans is that they would have the best loss out of all the teams contending for a spot.
I don’t disagree with that in the slightest.
The problem is it’s not just about who you lose to, but who you beat. Yes, Bama has a loss to the #1 or #2 team in the country, but they don’t have any good wins to this point (Texas A&M best win?) and I’m not sure Auburn will be a marquee win by the time they play us.
I think in terms of playoff hopes Bama needed to beat us more than we needed to beat Bama, from a pure resume perspective.
From the media perspective, losing 9 in a row to Bama and it probably doesn’t matter how good our resume is, we might not have gotten in anyway.
