Especially since JUCO allows 24. And why 11.7 and not 11 or 12? I just don't understand how they work.
Also, I've read stuff on here before about how Vandy has an advantage in this regard. Is it because they're private?

Yes, vandy has the endowment schollie but everybody else has the advantage of lottery scholarships which do not count against the 11.7. The only schools in the sec that TRULY play with 11.7 is Bama and auburn which is, was and always will be total bullshite. Bama and auburn are basically saddled with sanctions every season.

I think we were allowed to hire an extra coach this year. So 4 instead of 3.

I believe it's 3 paid instead of 2 paid plus the volunteer.

Title 9 is not about available scholarships but rather scholarships given.

not true.

Title IX is about for every men's sport there has to be an equal number of women's sports......it has nothing to do with scholarship numbers.

NIL should eliminate any advantage Vandy had with this.

We have an 11 billion endowment and NIL money too. Our recruiting should remain stellar.

So what was the actual update to the rule? Schloss talked about how it was important bc we got to keep Michael Earley.

That was explained earlier in the thread. In 1987, as part of an 10% across the board reduction in scholarships for equivalency sports, baseball was cut from 13 to 11.7.

Extra paid assistant. Used to be two paid, now it’s three. Easier to keep an assistant when they’re paid.

It’s called academic scholarships my man. The proof is in the pudding or all those #1 recruiting classes. Btw, I don’t like trannys or Yankees.

Probably biggest injustice in collegiate athletics

UVA is NOT using endowment funds for any athletic venture.

You know because as a public they'd have to disclose.

Candy is buying players. Few if any actually qualify as a "family in need."

State and OM don't have lottery scholarships. We have been playing with 11.7 plus some small academic scholarships. Probably waiving out-of-state tuition for players from adjoining states, and we do have the advantage of lower base tuition.

I believe now State has enough NIL to fund the whole team's scholarships. I could see State going bigger as our NIL grows. We got a late start.

As we know, LSU has gone huge in baseball NIL and may be the only team in the NCAA doing that. Above in this thread an A&M poster mentioned them providing NIL to keep current players from going into the draft. So maybe just those two doing large NIL.

State,OM, Arkansas, and a few others are probably doing enough to fund the whole team, thus catching up to pre-NIL Vandy.

I haven't heard if Vandy is giving NIL on top of their full scholarships.

Football should be exempt from Title IX, there's technically nothing preventing women from playing.

Actually, ANY sport that is profitable at a school should be exempt.

I am keenly interested in seeing how all of this plays out as I live in Georgia and my son wants to play for A&M in baseball in 4 years.

He will finish in the top 2 of his class academically and could likely go to school for free in state, but he wants to go out to Texas. HUGE potential difference to my wallet.
