it's just allowing more OOS kids to attend MSU at the in-state price, which is very reasonable. this builds up alumni bases up across the south and helps in recruiting more OOS kids.

State is not that larger than Ole Miss, NIH. You do realize this, don't you?

Yes it is.

True. I'm going to call OM next week and ask them why they have such high requirements for these waivers compared to State. This is a big difference.

There was something in the MS senate about either lowering OOS waiver standards or eliminating OOS tuition. it was in the Memphis Commercial appeal. I'll find you the article.

Thanks. I'm assuming this passed. According to this, the university presidents can decide on the waiver or not. Now the question, is WHY Ole Miss has opted for such higher requirements? I'm going to call and ask them.

I don't think it did or if it did only the small schools adopted it.

I think it's pretty simple, honestly. The avg OM OOS student is in Oxford bc. they didn't get into their states flagship like a UT or UGA or tuition at OM is cheaper than their in state schools even with the extra fees. Assuming that as the case Ole Miss can bank on very few people qaulifying for the full waiver and they can gobble up a ton of OOS fees.

I remember at the LSU-OM game in 2005 Oxford there was a Rebel mascot in the stands, i guess an unofficial deal.

He's also been banned from the games now.
