It's already happening in Memphis. If you want to go through grad school and not rack up debt on the way there it's best to make sound financial decisions with your undergrad education.

OOS waivers are given if you score a 24+ on the ACT and have a gpa of 3.0 and up. That gives you in- state tuition which is cheaper than most in state schools around the south. And on top of that State has more attainable scholarships. Paying 5-6k less than you would at OM is a big deal, ESP in this economy. Hence why I mentioned Memphis. Traditionally a ton of kids there go to OM as it's closer to home and easier to get into than UT. With OM making full OOS waivers harder to aquire MSU is picking up some of those kids.

I would like to see some definite proof of this. I'm not saying it's not true, but I don't understand how State can give an OOS waiver with an ACT 24 and Ole Miss can't. Doesn't make any sense, especially considering OM's endowment is much larger than States. Something's not right here.

Without me going to look, do you know what the ACT requirement for an OOS state waiver is at Ole Miss?
I need to find out for my nephew.

It's really a shame what this country has turned into. I thought that history was taught so people can learn from their past mistakes that happened. Ole Miss was forced to drop the rebel flag and mascot, yet Mardi Gras is still allowed to have the Zulu parade which started out as a mockery of the white parades at the time. Double standard? yeah and the white people in this country are really fed up with the crap about how blacks were slaves, etc. Blacks kill whites but if a white kills a black, riots take place. If whites abuse a black and it is on tape, the blacks will riot if they think justice wasn't served. Why didn't the whites riot when OJ was let off? The reason is because we're civilized and take a look at Congo Africa and see how they treat each other.

gpa isn't so tough, it's the ACT/SAT scores you need. just getting a 26-27 on the ACT puts you in the top 15-20% of the kids taking the test around the country. and in most cases the people taking the ACT have plans for college and aren't the marginal types that are failing in public schools or what not.

I'll be very surprised if he doesn't score at least a 30. He's going to OM regardless, it will just be nice to get his OOS tuition waived.

It could also be argued you're really lowering your standards giving a full OOS waiver with a 24 . That's REALLY low. It must be much more difficult for State to attract OOS students.
