Threads get locked over time. You won't be able to bump this thread next year, not that it would matter anyway.

I don't know if he'll never win one, but I will say this. When the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley cup in 2010, it was super obvious that every building they went into in 2011, the crowd was stoked and the players on opposing teams played like it was Game 7 of the Cup Series. They lost a lot of games.

Then, they won it again last year and it's the same thing this year. The thing is, they're still winning this time, but I attribute that to them having another great team, even with the X on their backs. They may actually be better.

Auburn will have the X on their backs next season and they probably could lose some of these close games.

I still do think Mal has something going with his misdirection on the read option, along with his playcalling. Really, he hasn't put it all in yet and his QB is mainly just running what he's told and/or sees off the first read at the line of scrimmage. There's more to it than that. The kid improved, so he may be on point next year to off-set the mark of the beast.

I bumped a 2 year old thread recently, so locks aren't universal.

Does any of this message board banter matter? It's all in fun.

Gus will be a victim of his own success.

Last year will be his best at Auburn, everything fell in place. It will never happen again, book it.

Auburn always plays best from the back of the pack. Also this year was a lucky year for them.

Everything fell in place literally. That tipped pass in the Georgia game had nothing to do with Malzahn, but he still gets all the credit for their season.

Typical SEC Rant shite...AU poised for greatness but Bama is decining......the typical conventional wisdom....flip the post around and insert Bama and the same idiots in this thread will list all their reasons why Bama is on the decline.

Y'all are missing something pretty important. You are assuming that Auburn is going to need that kind of help next year and aren't going to get it. By the end of the season, Florida State was the best team in the country. What kind of miracle did Auburn need to be within 15 seconds of winning that game? Auburn is not the team that you saw at the beginning of the season last year. Also, auburn let up on Georgia. They dominated that game until like eight minutes into the fourth quarter. And the only miracle that Auburn had against Bama was the last play. Had that last play not happened, they were about to go into overtime with Auburn having all the momentum and Bama not having a kicker.

The real question is will Saban ever win another? All the hype, all the money thrown his way, all the 5 star recruits. He still may never win another.

I'm just wondering how this will keep Gus from ever getting back to the NCG while he's at Auburn?

Was it the "Never again, again" sign he posted in the locker room?

No doubt. This has always been the case. 1983, 1993, 2004, 2010, 2013. All our best seasons we started from the bottom or close too it, except 1983 when we were expected to be really good.

This is pretty ignorant. Early in the year we played some close games, but we were not a great team early on. In the UGA game, it was UGA who was "lucky". The game was over when we stopped them on 4th down. UGA got "lucky" when the refs fricked up. Otherwise the game ends there with 3 qb sneaks to run out the clock.

tkane311 and tigerpaul1969 were the only ones out of a three page thread that gave some kind of thought out answer. While I do believe Gus is a good coach (even though I don't agree with his offensive philosophy)I think the barn loses 3-5 games next season, not looking at this through crimson glasses either, hell BAMA might lose 1-2.

6. HUNH: His offense was something that most SEC teams were unprepared for. Every team will be studying film and spending time during the off season figuring out the best way to combat it (instead of sitting back and reading, teams must attack and penetrate the line of scrimmage like Florida State did in the second half)

Not Saban, his team is going to spend the entire off season trying to figure out how to run it, ala kiffin....

So, if your logic is correct, Bama will never make it back to the SEC or National Championship game since the entire SEC is will know how to stop it next year!

It's easy to stop it. Just do what FSU did. Forget the fact that FSU was the most talented defensive team we played and they had a month to watch film. It's easy.

Yeah, Fsu really shut it down too. 450 yards, 30 points, more first downs, great third down conversation rate, more time of possession, more total yards, etc.
