And yet, nobody in America, including Dawg fans, would be the tiniest bit surprised if Bama boat-raced UGA, much less barely wins the game tomorrow.
That’s a bold statement considering I would be absolutely floored.

Look bammers… we get it. If you somehow luck into a win Saturday you absolutely do not want to play GA again. Just say it in less words. We already know.

Because Georgia is Bama.
Best team
Best coaches
Best fans
Hell... uga can lose the first round of the playoffs and we will advance because we are better
Isnt that how being bama works?

If UGA loses to this absolute shite bama team, they don't deserve a pass and they damn well fricking know it.

Because UGA took care of business in the regular season. If Bama would have beaten TAMU, you would be in no matter what too.

The same reason that not even making it to the SEC championship does not make you ineligible for the CFP.

What the Gumps are basically saying is this:
If GA loses tomorrow, they should be out.
And that a 2-loss Bama should still be in. Just because, row dang tid!

1. Is there an undefeated conference champion? Who is that? Cincinnati?
quote:Only if one is a conference champion and the other isn't. I brought up the SOS stuff to just show that Michigan and Oklahoma State have comparable SOS's, although Michigan is definitely in with a win, Oklahoma State might be the team on the outside looking in.
So, in your world a one loss team with a tougher schedule should be left out for a one loss team with a weaker schedule?
quote:I didn't want to get in the weeds with this, but the only team that had an argument that year was UCF, a team whose best win was a shootout against Memphis. Ohio State and USC were both conference champs but each had 2 losses. This season, Cincinnati went to #6 Notre Dame and beat them.
Same reason Alabama did in 2017, I geuss?

This was all probably a waste of time; UGA is likely gonna whip Bama on both sides of the ball Saturday, and any one of the other teams could certainly lose. But if we agree that the SEC is the best conference, then the Championship Game ought to matter. The winner should advance and the loser go home.
Conference championships will be a thing of the past once the 12 team playoff begins.

Then that would be Okie States problem, because both Alabama and Georgia are better than them. But I would be willing to bet if Alabama wins it will be:
Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati, Michigan (Assuming they win) But if the committee leaves Cincinnati out that's on the committee, not on Alabama or Georgia. They make the decision. All our teams do is play the games.
quote:Sorry. but that is dumb. I mean the PAC 12 is weak as water. I would (personally) take a 2 loss SEC team than a 1 loss PAC 12 team. Give me the bet teams playing, not the team that plays the weakest schedule so they can have the better record.
Only if one is a conference champion and the other isn't.
quote:Notre Dame is the hill you want to die on? Ok. Who has Notre Dame played that is any good. They get blown out every time they play a decent team. Beating Notre Dame is nothing special. Georgia has done it twice. Once with a true freshman QB in his first start at their field.

For starters, the SEC championship doesn't mean shite in the national picture. It's a conference only thing. It doesn't take into account the OOC record, it doesn't take into SoS or whatever.
It is however another game on the schedule, and it generally gives the SEC teams a boost in SoS etc, making the winner much more likely.
So that is your answer for why it's not an elimination game. Same reason it's not an AQ game.
That said, if you lose the game, your chances of making it are extremely slim. Because it is late in the season, and the since the winner is also likely to make the playoffs, most of the time it's not going to happen.
But it could happen with Georgia this year. It sure as shite won't happen with Alabama this year. And it's not going to happen in most other years either. But a few years ago Alabama could have lost to Florida and it wouldn't have mattered.
It is a defacto playoff game.

Let's get shite straight here: Bama did not lose the SECCG those two years.
Exactly. 2011 Bama and LSU were the two best teams. It took a lot of losses for Alabama to get back into position for the BCSNCG. 2017 Bama was probably the best overall team, but they lost the ONE game they couldn't afford to lose. Injuries had much to do with it, but still a loss. By the time the CFP rolled around, many of the Injuries had improved.
I won't be surprised with any outcome tomorrow.

Because 2 losses are worse than 2 loss?

Bama moved early. It's still a punt from 5 yards further back, you don't get the ball there. Fix the whole play if yer gonna fix part of it.
It's never just ONE thing, you know. Kinda like the two Fromm interceptions. But Georgia gon Georgia.
