Pay.
We are just finishing a $337 million stadium renovation, and we didn't have to beg donors for the money.
We can outbid you by double on any pay for a coach. WE HAVE MORE MONEY THAN YOU.
Matter of fact, in Josh's next contract. It might call for UT to buy a piece of the LSU coach's wifes's arse. We can meet her price too.

Bonus metric: Championships.
No coach gives a shite what you won last week. They are worried about what they are walking into. In LSU's case? It is a second tier dumpster fire.

Yeah, and Auburn has 133 national championships in only 132 seasons.
National championships:
LSU: 1958, 2003, 2007, 2019.
TN: 1951, 1998.

NIL collective? UT has one of the best. LSU has one of the worst.
AD? Not even close. Danny White is currently the best AD in the nation.
Money? NOPE! We are rolling in it at the moment.
Better chancelloer and president? Another not even close.

You had to BEG for that money. Tennessee would have just written the check.

LSU and Florida are much better jobs than Tennessee.
Heupel’s record is good but nothing to write home about.
7-11 overall against teams that finished ranked in the AP poll coming into this season…. 1-8 against opponents that finished in the Top 10.
Counting this season and using the current AP Top 25 / Top 10, those numbers move to 7-13 and 1-10, respectively. Not good.
What Heupel has been able to do at Tennessee is win the games against the lower tier schools… Kentucky, Miss St, etc. His predecessors were not able to win those games consistently, so he has stabilized the program. But Heupel has still not taken Tennessee “back” to where the program was in the Majors/Fulmer years. Still pretty far off, IMO.
That’s probably why no one has shown him any interest.

Jeez people on this site continue to get dumber and dumber. If we are saying Heupels isnt a very desirable coach then who is? His stats are all better than Kiffins yet people in this forum would become trans for him. Theres maybe 4 coaches in the country that have better stats than Heupel? Saban ruined football for everyone in here. If it isnt Saban or Kirby level dominance than everyone else sucks according to yall
No one has shown him interest because they know its a lost cause. No big 6 coach is leaving for another. If heupe leaves tennessee it will be because he gets fired or goes to OU, his alma mater

10 years ago? No question.
Now? Not a chance.
UT's athletic department is literally one the top, if not the top in America, They have everything.
A NIL collective that is recognized as one of the best.
The best AD in America at the moment.
A chancellor who will go to court swinging to protect the athletic programs
Donde Plowman and Danny White have turned UT into a premier place to be a coach.

People aren’t dumb just because they look closely at Heupel’s record and don’t love what they see. Vols fans grew so accustomed to losing to Kentucky and Vandy, y'all think y’all’s program is back when it’s clearly not.
Heupel is 43-17 overall. Looks good until you dig further.
He’s 14-0 against mid-major and FCS opponents.
He’s 16-2 against Power 4 opponents with a losing record.
Thats 30-2 against the cupcakes… as I said, what Heupel has done is get Tennessee to the point they are consistently winning these types of games. Dooley, Butch Jones, et al were losing a lot of these type games.
But in the games that are left over, Heupel is a mediocre 13-15 against P4 opponents that finished above .500.
And that includes a 2-12 record against AP Top 15 opponents.
Heupel has Tennessee floating between #15 and #25 in the rankings. A lot of schools would take that right now (I know I would). But Brian Kelly was doing that and more at LSU…. Not sure why LSU would even consider Heupel as an option.

Not really. Heupel is 7-13 against ranked opponents (35%). Kiffin at Ole Miss is 8-10 (44%). That’s a sizable gap.
I feel like 40% is sort of the minimum win% against ranked opponents for a great coach. Anything less than 40% usually leads to a coach of a major program getting fired in time.

Heupel has 7 wins out of 20 tries.
Kiffin has 8 wins out of 26 tries. One more win than Heupel with 6 more games played.
That's a sizable gap?
