With 3 of those in the meat grinder that was the Big 12 North that also sent a colorado team once that lose 70-3

I would venture to guess that Atlanta has the biggest SEC alumni population and fanbase out of any city in the southern United States.

Add to that the airport, convenience, and tradition...the SECCG isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

You've been to Atlanta as many times as Mississippi State and South Carolina...one data point does not make a trend.

That's because Missouri is a geographic outlier to the northwest. Y'all knew that when you joined the league. The SEC Championship in Atlanta is a tradition, at this point

Actually, 12 teams voted to allow Texas A&M and Mizzou to join the conference, with the knowledge that some traditions would not survive.

LSU has sacrificed it's tradition of Saturday night games in Death Valley, some other schools may have to make sacrifices as well.

I was told making "championship games" was new and exciting to me as a Missouri fan. I'm pointing out that this year isn't the first "championship game" we've been to.

Gotcha...wait till you actually win one. That's when the real excitement begins....if I remember correctly.

So because some traditions wouldn't survive, we should get rid of more traditions?

Take that up with the TV people.

All of this argument is moot. It's not leaving ATL

I wonder how things would have turned out had we played this year in Athens as intended.

Also are we doing 2IAR in athens? I wouldn't think so, but didn't know if it had been discussed.

The only 3 cities the SEC would possibly host it in IMO would be Atlanta, New Orleans, or Dallas.

Dallas is an average trip of a little over 10 1/2 hrs per team (shortest trip for aTm, Mizzou, and Arky)

New Orleans is an average trip of a little over 7 1/2 hrs per team (shortest trip for LSU)

Atlanta is an average trip of a little under 7 hrs per team (shortest trip for UGA, UF, USCe, UT, UK, Vandy, AU, Bama...that's over half the conference)

You can lump MSU and OM with New Orleans if you want, but Mapquest suggests the drive to Atlanta is about the same for each.

Now look at that and tell me why it would be anywhere besides Atlanta.

You would all be surprised that St. Louis is a very good venue and they have had BB Final Fours there. Good infrastructure.

Yea, that'd have definitely helped. I wonder too.

And shite, we should make a thread asking if there is gonna be some balancing act done for the team that did the 2 in a row shite

Well at least they've been there. It would be really embarrassing if in just two years Mizzou had been to more SECCG's than say, a charter member of the SEC.

I'm sure it is a great place to host a championship game. Just not the SECCG
