Exactly. I would love to see the Rebs take bevo to the woodshed. Make it happen!

If the Rebs take Bevo to the woodshed I will be expecting some brisket.

Thanks! I haven't been around much for the past week or so. My dad passed away unexpectedly, so just had a lot of stuff to deal with. I've lurked a little, just not posted much. But I should be around a little more now!

The league also has no revenue sharing like the SEC does

Your links are outdated. The Big 12 now shares first and second tier revenues, while allowing individual schools to keep their third-tier revenue.

The conference also shares bowl-appearance money and NCAA tournament proceeds.

Isn't that exactly like the SEC's revenue sharing plan?

quote:

The consistent complaints in the league from Nebraska and A&M have been about Texas's behavior.

Yet those two schools voted lockstep with Texas on nearly every issue of import, including revenue sharing.

Go figure.

No one trusts UT man, it's really that simple.

I can't really argue with the trust issue.

The Texas athletics administration does tend to play political hardball almost all of the time.

I would like to modify my statement about Nebraska voting with Texas on almost every issue; they were the lone vote to keep the old partial qualifiers, and the lone vote against a championship game (but they did vote for unequal revenue sharing).

That's the thing. I know it sounds trite, but the SEC really is an equal fraternity. One school playing hardball doesn't have a frame of reference here. Slive made it a point to say A&M and Mizzou are welcome as equals from here on out. He also made it a point to say there is no buyout, if someone wants to leave...bye.

That's just a function of the old Southwest Conference -- lots of backstabbing for years and years.

Two different cultures, for sure.

Regarding trust....

Look to the wrangling of getting a 3rd game to the LHN. the agreement to stay at 2 lasted exactly one season.

Texas' defense will be good, but the question mark remains solidly on the offense. I think it's going to be a low scoring game against the Rebs, and I will be loudly pulling for them.

Semo, very sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you and the family.

I don't remember where I read/heard it, but supposedly Mizzou voted against Texas joining the league back when the Big 12 was being formed. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If true, Mizzou was ahead of the curve even back then, and adds more weight and reason why they got the hell out of that mess. Not that they needed it!

Interesting hearing the Big 12 respond to these FSU rumors....hmmmmmm....I mean DeLoss Dodds..... Dodds needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. No one else in the Big 12 is saying a word about FSU yet Dodds goes out of his way twice to speak against it. Once again the Big 12 gives the apperance that Dodds and t.u. run the conference while their new commish sits back and says nothing.

First post, so off with the rookie stripe. All I gotta say is ditto. Can't trust em. As I adjust the rear view mirror driving away from the big12, it brings a smile to my face. That other in state team is only a distant memory now, and beer can cure that, too. So long sucker.

Thanks so much, guys. It was a shock, but a blessing for him - heart attack, and extremely quick. No chance to linger. Just hard for everyone else. Your prayers and good wishes mean a lot, truly. Thank you.

Thanks so much. I'm really gonna miss him come football season, we used to analyze games together. I'll have to analyze with all my new e-friends now. And it's sister instead of brother.
