Bama is and has always been one of the icons of CFB. One the tops in wins, bowl wins , All Americans , etc. Having two great coaches helps but it is not a coincidence that the two GOATs were at the same school . You just need to accept that and things will be easier for you

I just think some on here are rejoicing like Alabama is going to return to the Shula days when it is more likely they just hired someone who will have Stallings type success. Gotta remember, even a loser like Shula still managed to win 10 games at Alabama one time, Franchoine won 10 games once too, and Dubose did it while winning the SEC (he even beat Spurrier twice in one year what the frick lol).
You could point out the same things about LSU if you look at Gerry Dinardo and Jerry Stovall and the like.
Speaking for myself and LSU fans of my generation, I don’t think anyone expects Bama to go back to the Shula days but #1 It won’t be as much of a roadblock as it’s been year after year and #2 Even if you stay really good it at least won’t literally be with the LSU coach from my undergrad years who then comes back to raid the state regularly and seemingly takes pleasure in needling us both on the field and in recruiting.

Not that Alabama is Ole Miss or something but having 40 of the last 65 years coached by literally 2 of the best to ever do it is you know, helpful.
This is true, but you also need to consider that Bama self
Inflicted a lot of misery in between Bryant and Saban and still managed to win a National Championship and every coach (that coached games …it’s rolling) had at least one 10 win season. Ray Perkins, Bill Curry, Gene Stallings, Mike Dubose, Franchione, and even Mike Shula all managed at least one 10 win season. Reasonable Bama fans aren’t expecting the same level of success as we had with Saban, but we do expect be able compete for the SEC championship most years and win it occasionally with competent coaching. And thankfully/hopefully, as an administration , we won’t repeat the hiring ineptitude that occurred between Bryant and Saban.

I gotcha. All I'm saying is I don't think Alabama is going back to the days of struggle bussing wins over Duke. I totally get why LSU fans in particular are glad to see this regime in Tuscaloosa dead and gone though.

'Bama has won the SEC 30 times, literally more than twice the amount of the next two schools behind them in UGA (14) and UT (13.) Only 9 of those belong to Saban.
But sure. Nothing special.

I meant that as a relative way, basically I think the other Big 6 programs in the SEC would have had similar success under similar circumstances.
Maybe not Auburn, but definitely the rest.

Moving from Seattle to Tuscaloosa has probably been horrifying for them. Like stepping into the Twilight Zone. They’ve probably been regretting accepting the Alabama OC job for a while.

If Tuscaloosa is bad, imagine how any coach forced to move to Auburn must feel. Did they ever get around to putting in that second stoplight?

The guy is from bumfrick Iowa. I doubt it.

Saban retiring has exposed the insecurity of Bammer Nation, they are circling the wagons and trying to stomp out any shade thrown at them it’s like watching…

I lived in Tuscaloosa. Despite all the crime, vagrancy, and crumbling infrastructure, I survived.

Bama is an icon of the sport. But, the sport has changed. It's about money more so now than ever and Bama doesn't have nearly the biggest wallets supporting it.

For some it might be so, but Tuscaloosa has very nice upper end areas most people would like to live in.
If Grubbs leaves for the nfl he will not be the last.
I hope he stays a few years, but if the right offer comes along any coach would probably take it.

He hasn’t yet and may not but if I were a college coach I’d even take less money to go NFL because no recruiting.

Doesn’t seem to have hurt Bama yet. Don’t think the current landscape will be a long term fixture but we will see I guess
