why does any of this matter? why do sports matter this much to people.
need this guy called out
need these teams ranked
look what this guy said about this team/player/coach
boring. when people do talk about spurrier, people aren't even going to think about this for a second, they're really not going to bring up SC much at all
ole ball coach, florida, running up the score, talking shite, Heisman, national champion, and redskins
that's about it

You honestly think his players will call him out publicly... trust me..these payers aren't happy about this when they get back to their dorm rooms.

Because he's Steve Spurrier and other than the Bear he is the man who made the modern SEC, you don't call out a legend, you let a legend leave and you say thanks.
Put it this way Meyer won two titles and unless he'd actually died on that night in December 2009 he was never going to be as beloved as Spurrier at Florida no matter how well he did (it's the same reason even Nick knows he's not going to be loved like the Bear, respected sure but not loved).
Seriously, the man coached at USCe and went 3-1 vs Saban, he coached at USCe for a decade, a school that prior to his arrival was essentially on the UK, MSU, Vandy level historically (he has almost half of there bowl appearances 9 of 20), and he still has a winning record vs basically every SEC school. The man essentially epitomizes everything we want a coach to be and he did it somehow without going all robot Saban/Meyer mode we won't see another Spurrier in out lifetimes.
So to answer your question, why no one is calling out Steve, well it's no one other than a handful of haters has the lack of proper upbringing to do so. Hell, read Spencer Hall's article on him, he's right this retirement is Spurrier being Spurrier.

You guys were dead silent yesterday until the Grier news came out. It was nice.

quitting or not, spurrier doesn't give a shite and he's a cfb legend so he's above any criticism so long as it isn't discovered that he was harboring a child predator.
Exactly.
Spurrier went out like a boss.

Just because Kentucky's greatest coach is best remembered as the villain in a real life sports movie doesn't mean you have to be a bitch.

It's your fault the Astros' bullpen imploded yesterday.

You could have toughed it out.

I wonder if we have any collegiate divers or equestrian stars who can chime in on the South Carolina situation as well

No. i know how they feel because as a former college athlete and professional athlete i know what it means to be a team and i know the role that coaches play in that team.
i don't expect you to understand... a coach quitting a team is a lot different than your boss quitting his job
